"Carnage"? :R

Help me understand something, if a vehicle under goes and PASSES the Federal Gov safety standers at the time it is built then how the $#%^ can anyone file a law suit? I know they do but it does not make it right. DamnLire/Chrysler was given the green light on the fuel systems in those vehicles, so unless DCX fudged the results (like a different manufacture did, cough...cough...GM) then any recall should be on the Governments dime.

The so called fix as you put it is to add a receiver hitch to help protect the fuel tank. From what I can find all fires were in crashes that involved very high speeds. Kind of like the Crown Vic Police cars, their tanks also have ruptured and caused "carnage" when rear ended at highway speeds.

Sorry but unless you want to live in a bubble and never go outside there will always be the chance the you are not going to make it back home. It's called LIFE!!!

Don

PS. Not sure Chrysler/Fiat could even get sued, they didn't build those vehicles DamnLire/Chrysler now know as "The Old Car Company" did. Remember the Feds forced GM and Chrysler in to bankruptcy then created the new Companies. Will be interesting to see if Chrysler/Fiat would be sued or if DamnLire/Chrysler would be sued.

Something is really weird with that. Something very strange going on.

It does not say that the front axle recall was NHTSA mandated. Chrysler may have just determined based on the two there was a problem with a specific batch of parts supplied.

Yep never a good idea to get it a p!ssing match with NHTSA, they will win in the end!

LOL
Guess there has only been one CP.4 failure :W

LOL, good one Rick!

But seriously, two failures and you get a recall? Something strange going on here? Don't know quite what to make of this whole deal. :h

I haven't seen the recall, but if "6,900 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups from 2012 are bring recalled for front axle prop shafts" is true, what would an AAM 11.5 rear differential have to do with anything?

It thought Dodge used the 11.5 inch American Axle? GM and Dodge share it. Has that changed? Just like know about car/truck stuff.

Your right, for the last several years they were the same axle. The 2013 3500 Ram now uses a 11.8 axle, not sure if GM does.
LOL about recalls, ch*t happens for all of them and usually it effects more folks from the top dog.

2 failures in over 300k vehicles is like .000006 failure rate. Even a good civil suit attorney wouldn't bring up that figure.

Learn something new everyday. Good info, thanks.
11.8 that is pretty stout. Recalls are recalls. It will be fixed and that is that. All manufactures have them.

This could be very serious for the HD crowd.

6,900 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups from 2012 are bring recalled for front axle prop shafts that can "bind or fracture" and lead to a loss of power, Chrysler said. Two owners had reported serious front axle damage as a result, Chrysler said. Dealers will apply a fix, to be determined, at a date Chrysler did not announce.

In February, Chrysler recalled 278,222 pickup trucks and SUVs, including the 2011-2012 Ram, for rear axles that could suddenly lock up and cause the driver to lose control.
