Ford has slipped a bunch in my eyes, especially after two weeks ago. My 3.5 ecoboost threw a code and went into limp mode. It was a worn cam chain (only 70K miles...), and they had a service bulletin out on it. The SB specifically states that it was covered under the emissions warranty, which is 8/80K. Dealer ran it thru OASIS, warranty coverage denied. They wanted $2500+ to repair it. I told them I'd take it to a Chevy dealer and trade it first. My salesman overheard this conversation, took it to the dealership owner, and we struck a deal. It will only cost me $800 to get it fixed, and its in the shop now. It shouldn't cost me anything, according to their service bulletin.

This is the 3rd time Ford has denied warranty coverage on items that should have been covered. One was a $1400 repair for a 6.0 F250 for a bad FICM, which should be covered under the 5/60K drivetrain warranty. Ford denied it because I live in a county that does not have EPA emissions checks. If I lived in Cleveland or somewhere EPA mandates emissions checks, it would be covered, so says the dealer (different dealer than above). I think the dealer was blowing smoke up my tailpipe on that one.

All of the truck manufacturers are necessary evils, just pick the one that you think will screw you the least.

Dodgeboy, the Blue Oval Koo-Aid King explained it the other day, saying that he once purchased a used 06 RAM 6 speed manual really cheap and had a lot of problems with everything but the tranny. Well if he found a 06 manual really cheap, it must have been beat on, as they sell for a lot more than the 48RE trucks.

Nothing really adds up with him other than pouncing on RAM any chance he gets, while ignoring any Ford warts! You kind of have to hand it to Ford that they have keep some many loyal fans despite the 6.0, 6.4 and now 6.7 problems.

The vendor is back charged for the all of the cost of the recall. This includes any fines levied and suits brought by the consumer. This can quickly close even the largest vendor.

The vendor has to pay for all inspection costs for sorts if defective parts are found during manufacturing. The thing I find funny is if Ford has a recall our resident Blue Oval Kool-Aid King thinks it is no big deal. But let it be anything FCA and the world is coming to an end LMAO.

There are hundreds of thousands of parts and any one of them can fail. When a recall is needed be it voluntary or ordered the vendor that supplied that part will now need to supply the parts for assembly (if a currant model) service parts and now recall parts. This can be very hard to do if it is a hot seller.

Recalls are not a big deal and all manufactures have them. Back when warranties were 12/12 bumper to bumper the customer was on the hook. With the currant warranty coverage we now have recalls on parts that we never used to. Note, a safety recall can happen no matter the year of manufacture, ask GM and their brake line recalls.

The Takata Corp. airbag recalls are a perfect example of a supplier that can not provide the parts needed for all the recalls it has. Who gets the black eye? The car manufactures do and they also are getting hammered by the clowns at NHTSA yet they suspended the fines that were levied against them? But their problems are not of yet, there may be a $300 million in regulatory fines.

Yep, and Ford just got an overall low rating for their products. Even the king of the hill Honda had their crown slip a bit down the scale.

05 6.0 PSD 7 years 170k miles. A couple of oil leaks and a EGR valve, and a EGR valve clean, Inductive heat flash update
12 6.7 PSD 3.5 years 79k miles. A emission recall requiring a PCM reflash. Changed wiper blades on Friday.



Yup and in the mid 70's Ford was fined $7 million for cheating on emissions. Ford isn't immune... :B

The GM trucks were having serious DEF problems so bad that they literally were given a free pass from the EPA until they could figure out their DEF problem which would put the truck into a limited speed mode. Pizzed off a lot good folks too!

I am sure its just a matter of waiting to get the parts in then all the recalls will get repaired, iregardless of make or manufacturer

GM just recalled 1.4m cars for the third time with no documented fix for fires with the 3.8 engine. And some complain about other brands? Chris
