I have always wondered about these units and wonder if anyone on RV NET has done one?

That lack of storage in a camper is one minor drawback. Things like extension cords, portable generator, water hoses, etc would be right at home in a utility body.

The Torklift FastGun .45s or the Basic SpringLoads with Derringers are the best spring loaded quick release options for flat beds. I'm still contemplating how much twist there is in a flat bed and whether fixed turnbuckles would suffice.

The popup is using a bumper mount anchor in the rear, but I cannot see the front.

You can see the tie downs in the popup picture if you look closely.

The camper is tied down to the utility bed (requires anchor points) or flat bed (uses stake pockets or load rings). It will typically be an 18" or shorter connection. I'm actually in the process of researching my tie down fasteners right now for a flat bed.

$8-10K is typical for service bodies. $3-6K for a flat bed with utility boxes.

A 1000# would have some impact for sure. if they are 10K$ that is most likley out of my range unless I hit the lottery...then I buy a trekking vehicle. :>)

I checked into this a while back and they are made from steel and weigh over 1,000 lbs if I remember correctly, so requires a lot of truck.

I like what he has done, he has 4x4 an am 4x2 dually...I like the easy entry of being lower to ground with the side entry of the 1161 and it is even lower as the 61 does not have a basement when compared to 81/91, if I am not mistaken.

I believe Bryans utility bed is mounted on a F550 CC Ford not a Dmax.

I called them about 10 months ago, the average cost out the door painted white is around $10,000.

Do realize that it is custom made to your TC, so good luck if you ever decide/have to change out TC's.
