Looking at these chocks for the new rig we pick it up May first.. Jayco 29 BHS.. Would 1 work or do I need them on both sides? On the old TT 26 footer I used just the plastic chocks front and back on curb side.. I hear the new one rocks a bit more so that is why I ask.. Thanks Open to other suggestions

DW bought me a set for Christmas from Camping World and I can't wait to try them out on my Montana. We always have a little movement in the living room area and I hoping this will greatly reduce that!!!

I use 2. Never tried it with just 1, but I only use the x-chocks. Nothing in addition to them. I am sure that you could use the plastic wedges on the ground, and 1 x-chock would still add quite a bit of stability.

I put mine on as soon as I get the axles level. Then drop the landing gear and unhook the 5er.

If you are looking at prices, pplmotorhomes sells a pair for $67. You would then have to pay shipping unless you are in Houston, but for me, they beat pretty much everything I have found.

I use 2 and also use the plastic ones as well. This way if someone decides to try and steal the chocks hopefully they'll leave the plastic ones.

I work in the marine industry and Ranger boat trailers are now coming with a hand parking brake mounted up near the front.

Save yourself the money and just build your own. I have since trimmed off excess threaded rod and painted them black. They blend right in with the tires and you don't even notice them.
I already had the 4x4 laying around. all I had to buy was the hardware.

I use 2 Roto Chocks. First on before unhooking. They keep the trailer from moving and help with reducing jiggles. They for not pop out when a pull is put on the trailer. I find them much more secure than the wedge chocks on the ground.

Why not just make your own with some cheap 4x4 scraps and stainless all thread and hardware? I made all 4 of these in about 30 minutes and they work extremely well for less than $20.

Pictures of Homemade Chocks

I just use one of those ratcheting multi-tools from black and decker (dog bone or something) to tighten them up.

I think it's important to distinguish between the purpose of regular chocks and a product like X-Chocks. Regular chocks are needed to keep a trailer from rolling away, but they do little to stabilize the rocking motions of the trailer. X-Chocks stabilize rocking motions by limiting suspension movement, but they are not intended to keep a trailer from rolling away. With enough force to get the wheels turning, X-Chocks will just pop out anyway. Been there, done that.

So if you want to keep the trailer put, kick in regular chocks on each side. If you want to limit bounce inside, install an X-Chock between the tires on each side. I use both and consider it money well spent.

Regarding parking brakes, they may eliminate the need for regular chocks but would do nothing to stabilize a trailer.

;)If I had a million dollars that's what I'd do...two chocks at the same time.

I'm no engineer, but I guess I was thinking more of a mechanical solution than an electronic one.

I wonder why the manufacturers don't just offer a parking brake for trailers? seems like that would be easy enough to do. So much conversation about chocks and seems to me its only because an obvious feature is missing.

I was wondering that myself while I was looking at all the chocks.

The main problem with that for most, if you aren't hooked up to power, the brakes would wear your battery down in nothing flat. I try to get away from the rat race, that requires conservation of power.

I always use both x-chocks but I could see where one would work if the trailer is on reasonably level ground.
