Some friends want a trailer, only they have some interesting restrictions:
1.
They don't want to trade off the tow-vehicle, which means the trailer can't weigh more then 5000 lbs, gross, loaded.
2.
They have themselves and three Great Dane dogs.
3.
Since one of the dogs has separation anxiety a tent trailer or high-breed trailer is probably out.
4.
Since this will be their first rig, used is certainly something to consider
1. Plenty of TT's available under 5,000 lbs
2. 3 Great Danes? Have your friend call around to some CG's. It will be a rude awakening for them that most CG rules state limit 2 dogs AND the weight restrictions for the dogs is usually 25 lbs. And in some CG's they include the GD on the banned dog list. Certainly not conducive to finding a CG with 3 giant dogs.
It will be challenging at best for them to find a CG to stay at.
3. Most CG's have 'no dogs left unattended in the camper' rule.
4. Having had Great Danes and having owned a TT.....IMHO these people need to choose a MH for their first RV.
A TT of any type is not going to fly with this families dynamics.
IF you find a CG that will accept them, Shoving 3 GD's into a truck to travel to a destination and then taking them out and shoving them into a TT is just short of cruel and the family will not be able to leave them in the TT to do any type of camping activities.
Just saying it is what it is. Especially since the introduction of the bannned breed laws prompting most if not all CG's to in act the weight limit rule to avoid all the problems with their insurance carriers. I traveled with 3 Great Danes in a MH for over 10 years BUT that was BEFORE the new breed restriction laws where passed.
