Here we get a lot of snow that will sit most of the winter,I trust my roof but why take chances. Have used the plastic tarps and am not a fan.Thought I would spend some money and hopefully get something that will do a better job.

Classic Cover lasted exactly two years to the month this July. No tarp on top, exposed only to the damaging So.Cal sun. It basically turned to dust at the seams. However it came with a 3 year warranty. Filled out a claim on the website, submitted the pic below, four days later, I received a new one. No questions. Great service. Good to go for hopefully another two years. $160 that I'd gladly spend again.

Yeah, covers are a pain, but I went the first year without it and man, did it start yellowing and fading quickly. Needed new Dicor up top too. Detailer did his best to bring it back, which did help, but it was just exposed for too long. Everything I read on this forum prior to purchasing the camper advised against a cover. Glad I finally decided to get one. All the seal trim and exterior look like it did the day I covered it. Protect your camper. Get one. That and wax it regularly.

I just put on a CAMCO cover for the third year now, reviews said they can rip in windy areas but we're pretty sheltered but I did back into it when using the back pack blower, burned a nice hole in it.

It smelled musty when I unfolded it and I heard if you get three or four years it did it's job.

Where do you get a "thick" tarp?

Usually there is a patch fastened to the outside of the packaging that allows you to feel the difference. They are sold in different thicknesses that are reflected in the price so yes the expensive silver ones are what you want. They will stand up to many more uses than the el cheapos:)
The canvas idea will be really expensive and much heavier on and off...plus in our neck of the woods the squirrels can ruin a canvas tarp in pretty short order.

We got a fair bit of snow in Fairbanks, AK. I never used a cover. If the snow got too deep, I'd gently shovel it off the roof. Never had an issue.

Where do you get a "thick" tarp? Anywhere I go they sell the cheap blue ones, slightly more expensive green/brown ones, and expensive silver ones. Can't tell much difference from one to the next to the next, and none of them hold up in the weather for long.

The only ones that look like they might hold up are the true canvas tarps but those are super expensive, and the packaging implies that they're not meant to be exposed to the weather???

Putting 10-ply tires on half ton trucks since aught-four.

those that bought the classic access. Open the box, does it look all neat and packed or does it look like someone stuffed the cover in the box? last winter I received 4 covers before I got a new one. all of them were either ripped with duct tape holding them together or had holes burnt through them from heaters or water heaters. The buyers would destroy them than return then to seller. No way seller was inspecting them, they would just ship them out again.

They were all drop shipped from a very large RV distributor that most of the dealers work with.

Ranger Tim, being in Texas snow isn't a problem for me, but rather sun. It will be interesting to see how our covers hold up under the different conditions. If you're looking for a low dollar high quality cover I think this needs a strong look.

Covers are expensive. The roof of them doesn't have a slick surface, so the snow won't be easy to remove like with a big tarp. Tarps haev a slick surface, so you can easily get the snow off the roof when it gets deep.

I just ordered this same cover (Classic Access.) from Amazon. I will report after the first fitting and at the end of the season. We are already getting snow here in SE Idaho Highlands. Looks like an early winter -- hope it's not a brutal one.

I got this one from Amazon a few months ago. I'm impressed with the quality, and so far it seems to be waterproof. I had an Addco for my toyhauler and the material on this one is far better. Very reasonably priced IMO.

The Calmark cover is not waterproof (somewhat repellent Subrella fabric), but much more durable than the ADCO and similar. Costs significantly more too, but becomes cost effective after your 3rd or 4th ADCO falls to pieces. It's pretty heavy to put on and take off though, makes a carport structure look attractive after a few cycles.
