Camper Leveler

I saw these a couple months ago. After our last trip with trying to get wood planks under the one side to get the TT level I searched and found these easy to use trailer levelers. I contacted Anderson hitches who is the manufacturer. I ordered two of them for $39.99 each shipped to my home. Have not received them but are expecting them next week. I will give them a try the following week and let you know how they work. Just tired of messing with the wood.

Had Bigfoot automatic leveler on our fifth, manual leveling on our TT (sigh). Read a blog post written by a guy that has been RV'ing over 40 years that suggested a fairly easy method to level with 2"x8" planks.

1. Measure hub hub to hub distance of the axles. Add 18".
2. Cut first plank to the measurement obtained in #1.
3. Add 5" to measurement #1, cut second plank.
4. Add 5" to measurement of second plank, cut third plank. In his experience the writer stated he has never needed more than three planks.

I followed his idea and to date has worked great, and I've never needed more than one plank. They are not heavy and the tires of both axles on the low side are fully supported. Carry them in the truck bed. Works great on soft ground or hard surface; didn't even need to angle cut the ends, the trailer rolls right up on them, I tried it with 3 planks stacked. The trailer rolled right up on them and the planks didn't move.

I to use wood 2 X 8's for leveling. I'm curious to see how you like this product. On another note, why don't campgrounds level their sites? Last week we were at a beautiful campground which had a stone drive to park on, concrete pad for the picnic table and paved roads. But, the stone drive that we parked on was about 2" out of plumb. It could be leveled with a rake...

Obviously, for boon docking or state / national parks with grass sites we still need to level.

Neat way to level but $80 for two? That's a high price solution to a problem that has plenty of low cost solutions already. I use wooden boards to level from side to side and it certainly isn't hard enough to do for me to throw down $80 for a gadget.

Still, I'll be curious to know how they work out for you.

I would be interested to hear how they work, especially on softer surfaces such as grass or plain earth. They may work on asphalt but my doubt is in getting the chock underneath.

I have used leveling blocks for years with good success. Never used planks.
