I think they might be able to handle 7500 pond trailers I think ??? well mine being a 30 ft travel trailer at 5000 I think that truck would work for us.

Trust me it pulls more than a tent camper. As does the old generation.

Saw one at the Iowa State fair a few weeks ago. What impressed me the most was the size. Great for four people, yet narrow enough to fit in those narrow parking spaces. If one is pulling a tent camper, small boat or motorcycle, theses trucks will be ideal. Hope they do well.

These trucks won't be competing in the half ton market. There are many people who just don't want a full size truck. These are the folks that have been buying Tacomas and Frontiers, not for the price, but for the size. These Chevys look great. Despite their high price, I think they will sell tons, though I wish they were smaller.

I completely agree.

As for fishonone, I think GMs full size SUVs are for sure a home run. Not to mention GM even with all those recalls 2 months ago, Still is on top for overall sales against Toyota, ford, and then Chrysler. These trucks will be a huge hit!!

Your right the Suburban and Tahoe are house hold names and continue to outsell the competition.

Having said that, the newest GM offering here only provides a slight improvement in fuel economy in a smaller package vs. a full size truck so the real selling point has to be the bottom line $$$$ vs. a full size truck.

I see your logic and to a certain extent, agree. However there is a market for smaller trucks....compact or mid size like the Colorado and the now defunct Dodge Dakota and Ford Ranger.

My son purchased a new Colorado Z 71 in 2008. He liked the size and the off road 'stance'. The extended cab was also surprisingly roomy....even for me and I'm 6' 3" and 240 lbs. Very good leg and shoulder room.

With the passing of the Ford Ranger and Dodge Dakota there was a dearth of available options for those that prefer pickups, smaller than full size.

I think if GM plays this well and that if the 2.8 liter turbo diesel is both reasonable in cost and economical in operation then I think we could see a success story.

The other engines...the 2.9 lite DOHC 4 cyl. and the 3.6 liter DOHC V6 should do well. Both are engines that have good reputations.

I built one on GM's site. CC LB 4x4 LT it came in at $38,900 with $4700 in options. So $34,200 without options. Most all have some options when bought so add more to that. Too much $$$ when comparing to a 1/2 ton with discounts. GM doesn't seem to discount like Ford and Ram. So I don't expect them to with the new mini trucks. None the less it will be interesting to see how they do.

Maybe so, but the pricing is competitive with a similarly equipped Tacoma.

These GM trucks are a great size for many people. The market is there. Ford and Chrysler are missing out by not competing in this market. Some people say that the Ford Ranger died because there was no interest in the smaller truck market, and that is total BS. Ford always updated the F150 every year with the latest features and designs and made it into a great truck, and the Ranger was left to die on the vine, which is exactly what it did. Chrysler did the same thing. Even GM did it to some extent with the previous Colorado. The market is there, and GM will do very well in it.

Roush has been performing testing for these vehicles. They have been out towing multiple trailers. Double axle V-nose snowmobile trailers, flatbeds, and the flatbed with front wall.

With the 26 mpg for 2wd V6, this should be decent.

Roush does testing on GM's??

Roush does testing for many OEMs 24 hours a day. They send drivers out for 8 hour shifts.

The GM and Chrysler route crosses my path. So I have seen many of the new vehicles.

When towing trailers, they must put the magnetic Roush sign on the door.
