Cool Mods - Thread restored 10/18/2012

My daughter was getting a little warm in her bunk during our last camping trip, so I decided to put her a fan in to keep the air flowing.

I had been wanting to add a 12-volt fan to the main living area anyway, so I decided to tackle both jobs today. A trip to Wal-Mart for two fans($8.48 each) and we're halfway there.

She picked the spot, and I got to work -



I picked up the power from her overhead light. All I have left is to install a short piece of wire cover and I'm done -



I added one in the main area -



I dropped by Lowe's and found this cool soap dispenser. I also just installed these Pop-a-Toothbrush holders -



I added a sopa dispenser to the kitchen area as well. I also installed a Pop-a-Napkin under the radio -



Here's an easy mod. I found this over the door towel rack at Walmart and it works great -

Just curious, I'm new to CG camping, is there a theft problem in some camp grounds?

Added a ToyLok, bolted it to my rear steps. A friend got a good deal on it for me, I know it's not really a necessity but it makes it really quick to lock up the generator, chain saw and whatever without having to dig around for a chain and padlock:

Moved my bedroom TV shelf to the lower kitchen cabinet end that holds the stove. I had to add braces to the inside since there were no studs. Used some old brackets I had to prop it up.



Also had to relocate the GFCI outlet to keep it accessable. Cut the new hole too big and had to replace the smaller-than-usual box with a new one. It was too deep so I cut the back of it out.


Still worth the effort to expand the counter space.

Kids maybe....but the Beer AND the Dog are absolutely necessary

I got tired of the plastic strap for the cap of the water fill outlet breaking off all the time. So today I got a small piece of chain and put a cotter pin in the cap and attached the chain and the attached the chain to the outlet base. The cotter pin allows the cap to turn and now I will not need to replace for a long time.

With a full tank (6 gal) of gas, 70 lbs of steel, 113 lbs of genny, and the battery and plywood and other stuff, it weighs right at 285 lbs.

On the tongue of the trailer, there is (4) 6 volt batteries, and under the bed in the front of the trailer near the batteries is a 2800 watt inverter.

Using my Shurline tongue scale before and after, I measured my tongue weight as increasing about 50 lbs (but it is hard to really tell because I get about +- 30 lbs readings on the shurline, depending on whether I am lifting or lowering the jack).

I can load the trailer in ways that easily add or subtract about 150 lbs from the tongue weight, which tells you how much beer and other unnecesary *stuff* we carry with us. :B

How much do you think all that weighs? Do you know how much it reduced your tongue wt by? Your genny a diesel?

The main support is a heavy guage 4" channel iron. It is welded to the frame with 3/8 x 4" flat bar extending 18" up the I-Beams. (4) 2"x2" square tubing pieces are supporting the box with webbing pieces added to re-inforce them.

I like the clean look so tried to hide the frame.

On the other hand, I did get the generator re-installation finished up, really liking how it turned out. 🙂

I have a travel trailer so mine had to be in the house as you put it. Just so happens its in the same cab. as my pump. Came right off the pump to the tank and then on to the rest of the water system. As others have said I set the tank pressure at or just below kick on pressure for the pump. I can run a faucet at full for 30 sec. before the pump comes on.

Yes it's the Shurflo. The advantage of this one is it's small. If you have room somewhere for the big one, that's great, but to put one on mine near the pump I would almost have to use the Shurflo. It's about the same size a my pump. Maybe about 1/2 the size of a 2 litre pop bottle.

I've heard good things about the accumulator below. Never used it or tried it myself. Good Luck and let us know if you do it. Pics are always a good thing.

Believe it or not the argument continues for the whole world to see... :R

Anyway - I added the accumulator - it works great. I especially like being able to flush the toilet if I forgot to turn on the pump.

Yes, it is - I got mine from Amazon. That's all I had room for.
