... I'll be surprised if diesel stays more expensive than gasoline come Memorial Day.

Today its a performance decision, not an economic decision. Now that diesel and gas prices have flipped, its just made it easier to decide. Either you can afford it or you cant.
Its like a supercharged corvette, not everyone can afford/want/need to drive such a specialty "purpose built" vehicle. Other cars will get you there, just not quite as fast.
A gas truck will pull your trailer, just not quite as well. Its up to you to decide if the additional performance, and headache, is worth the money.
OK all you diesel lovers, start your flamethrowers. I said its a headache. I love 'um too, they just need to be pampered a little. With all the filters, oil, coolant change, necessary mods, and so on. If you are a guy who loves tinkering with your stuff you'll love it.

Yet another reason that this thread should be culled. C'mon mods...step up here.

I've noticed that gas is rising quicker in price than diesel now. Around here gas is #298-$3 and diesel us holding steady at $3.19-3.22. Normally its .30 difference and has been for some time.
the only way to make valid statements is to go to the federal governments website for national averages of diesel versus gas.
