DIY Camper Repair - Exterior Shower Hose (Solved)

Pictures of the solution below in thread. Thanks for the help guys! 🙂

As you can see depicted in the picture below, the red arrow points to the threaded cap (female end) which screws on to the shower head and has cracked.

The green arrow depicts the remainder of the hose which is recessed in the body of the camper and is inaccessible without disassembly of the entire exterior shower compartment, caulking and all.

Apparently you cannot just buy the female end fitting and replace it. You can only purchase a new length of hose, with fittings on both ends.

So, I'm considering buying a new hose with fittings, cutting the end off of it and splicing it in-line with my current hose. If one of you handy DIY'ers can think of a better solution I'm all ears. Thanks!

Those are some nice pictures. If I go for a Lance, it also gives me ideas on how to completely winterize that area come fall. After blowing out the lines, I'd pull the shower hose, stash it inside, then use "Seal & Peel" caulk around the exterior door to keep bugs out.

Well that was easy..couldnt get much simpler. Though my comments were more spurred along the lines of disbelief that a camper would be built without easy access. Im currently replumbing our bath, you've certainly a lot more room than mine. Got to say though Im impressed with your innards, wow I mean flex lines with inline valves n'all.

Hopefully AKSuperDually finds something similar with some more poking around. I guess there may be some campers built without allowance but not having access to a faucet & the fittings?

Well AnEv942, you were right! The access to the other end of the hose was accessible below the kitchen sink. I have included the photos to show how I was able to locate it.

I pulled out the two drawers below the kitchen sink and there it was.

Thanks for your help and hopefully this can help someone else with the same problem in the future.

I would imagine, never having had ours out, removing stove simply a few screws and gas line, But ya think that really might be needed?

That reminds me that I need to fix mine.....

Cranked it up to fill the dog's water bowl....and sprayed the whole inside of my camper with water from a broken connection.

It's past the valve....and before the spray head. Probably the hose somewhere....close to the valve...or the valve body itself, just past the shutoff/mixing valve.

I'm hoping I can get to it by removing the stove....it looks like that's how you get to it in my AF1150.

How hard is it to remove the stove?

I would replace the shower wand with a quick connect fitting. You could then use longer hoses or different heads. My Arctic Fox uses a setup like this which makes it convenient for cleaning vehicles or the TC with on board water.

As your picture shows your ext shower above the skirt and what appears to be a storage cab next to it, might also check in there for an access panel. I would find odd if there wasn't an access, somewhere, especially if hard plumbed with pex tube. I could not remove our faucet box if I wanted to without first removing the water lines to it.
If your unable to find access-a call to Lance might be in order.
Curious on the cabinet above skirt-isnt your bath behind there in that corner?.
I don't see any wrong with splicing hose if needed. As you'll have extra hose if barb fitting I assume to splice, was placed far enough down so it wasn't trying to slide out the hole in box -catching which could be problematic.

Another option, as a last is check your hose(s). What you would do if could find just an end, or cant get to other to remove hose. I removed ours to cut off end of hose that folded creased. Ours the ends that are swagged on, center piece has hex lip. It can be unscrewed, very slowly. Allow threads to turn, as its fairly soft material would be easy to twist off.

I used a large cresent so I could keep constant pressure on hex. Again unthread slowly, Hardest part because hex is so thin if wrench not perfectly parallel it slips off. Then a few figure 8's on a piece of wet/dry paper to reface hex.

Lastly, the male threads are standard 1/2" IPS. So a barbed swivel fitting, or a Flair-It could be used, or entire water supply flex line to replace.
But I cant imagine there is not access ..

Good luck.

AnEv942 and JumboJet, thanks for the info! I will check the sink and also look for a panel behind the skirt. From the looks of this photo it's more than likely attached to the sink inside. I'll check when I get home from work.

If that's the case then this will be a far easier fix then I first thought.

Thanks guys!

My Lance 1050S has the outside shower right above the driver's side rear skirt. Inside the skirt area a panel is located that can be removed to access the shower hose connection. I replaced the hard plastic hose on my outside shower with a flexible metal type.

Red area points to access panel behind skirt.

Just replaced mine today. There was no shower assembly other than the exterior mount. Went to the homo depot and found a shower wand with hose that is attached to a spigot (tub) and is used to clean the shower walls. I cut off the spigot end and attached to a fitting that attached to the 't' fitting under the sink. Found in the plumbing dept. Works great for an out door shower and it was only 9.00

Looks like screws in the edges of the box maybe you can remove the box from this side and get to the hose?
Good Luck, Mike
