2016 Super Duty 6.7 F 250 FX4 XLT

It's all DW's fault!!! She just had to have this new AF TT. Turns out with the quad, gear and TT I was 18000 gross land the 6.2 was really struggling on our mountains. How bad was it struggling? 5.5 MPG!!!! In it's defense the passes were very steep. Low gear and 10 mph. Plus it didn't handle very comfortably. Lifted on big tires the TT tried to shove it sideways thru the corners.

I started out to get a Super Cab long box which would have ended my TC as it fits a short box only. At the last minute I couldn't do it. There are too many places I like to go only a TC can get to. But my aggressive TCing is over and I miss the old truck all ready!!! Oh well, I really like this new truck. Took it for a 50 mile freeway drive, set the cruise at 70 and the DIC read 18.9. Even if it's off a couple miles sure beats 10 on a good day!!!

It is staying stock for a good TV but I will probably personalize it a bit. Nest week goes in to transfer Super Hitch, tie downs and air bags from old truck.

Really nice truck. Congratulations.

One thing I have wondered about is the grill on these trucks. Seems that the solid chromed cross pieces block a large percentage of the grill area. Looks to be well over half the available air intake area. Haven't read of anyone having any cooling issues though.

I must say though that the Ford grill looks better than the new one on the latest RAMs. That grill looks awful.

I call it SOS: "Shiny Object Syndrome"

The only way to put an end to it is when the shiny object arrives in your driveway.

Congrats on the new truck! You're going to love it! I picked my '16 up at the end of October '15 and already have over 14K miles on it. These trucks are beasts and tow like freight trains! Now that I have such a capable truck, I'm considering upgrading the trailer and have narrowed my choices down to an Arctic Fox 25W or a Timber Ridge 240RKS

Here's a pic from last weekend's trip:

Based on my experience while doing RV transport for 2 years, The AFs require a diesel truck for traveling around the western states.

I towed a few Northwood products while doing deliveries and was glad to have a diesel truck. I also towed a DF 21SW from the factory to Nelson's in Boise and I was blown away how heavy it was. I owned an early model DF 21SW for 7 camping season, and towed it with a gasser.

You are going to love the 6.7!
Congrats!

Oh man! You are going to love your new F350 with the 6.7! It is a beast of an engine with power to spare. That's a great looking truck - Congratulations!

P.S. Yes, I'm lucky. A few years back, my wife suggested we upgrade from our Supercab V10, to a Crewcab diesel. Who was I to argue?

DJ, your going to like that AF 25R,

Didn't you just recently have a Nash 23D?

No my AF's were, 2010 25R TT, 2014 22G TT & now 2016 990 TC.

The question was directed at DJ. I am sure I saw posts of a Nash a few months back.

I'm sorry, guess I misunderstood too. Yes, we did buy a new Nash 23D in '14. Thinking it was an upgrade from our'10 Springdale that never returned to the shop for 5 seasons the Nash must of been a Friday afternoon product. Eight trips back to the shop with all kinds of electrical problems and chattering slide out. They could not find one electrical problem nor fix the slide where it didn't cause me concern to be stuck out in the boonies.

I am much more confident with the AF. Whole different slide mechanism plus just half the dinette slides out vs whole. And there is a service door to get to the hand crank in case of malfunction vs tear off a bunch of trim work to get to the drive motors.

My biggest mistake with the AF is the LP genny, but that's a whole 'nother story!!!
