DPF delete. solenoid going crazy

My rig is a 2010 6.4l.
I did a turbo back delete and a PIP Maxx tuner yesterday. I am running the level 3 96 hp setting. I made a 200 mile trip today and noticed a few things. All good except one!
There is a solenoid on the driver side up close to the brake cylinder. I've heard it off and on for the past 3 years running stock, but now it is constant.
Can someone tell me what this solenoid does and how to quiet it?
I just ran a DX. It is showing code P1000. Does anyone know where I can get a code decoder?

Well, I found the leak and got some 1/8" ID hose to splice the hard tubing. I knew it couldn't be that easy. The hard plastic vacuum line from the pump and across the radiator ended up being broken in three places that I could see. I spliced those areas and it is still leaking. I must be under the battery box somewhere. Due to being 1000 miles from home I had to cap the pump and let it wait until I get back home.
As far as I can tell the lack of vacuum isn't creating any issues with the A/C. Any inputs as to where the other line goes?
Side note. I had the external air cooler replaced by a dealer 2 weeks ago and think that is when they got busted. I may call them on Monday and try to persuade them to make the repairs.

My 09 has been flawless with operation, but I can speak from experience on the differences in MPG of pre and post emission equipped Duramax trucks - I have two.

My 06 can get up to 22 mpg on the highway. My 09 never tops 16 empty.
I will put the 09 to a max mpg test in a week or so and see how good I can get out of it again. I rarely drive it empty.

In addition to additional emission output with deletes does this also increase engine exhaust noise? It seems like a self serving modification that does not consider anyone but the owner.

Why do you delete everything making the truck legal for off road use only? Are you building a monster truck or a pre-runner? I'm not trying to be smart...I really want to know.

Thanks!

It's because while the new(er) dpf emissions systems are more environmentally friendly supposedly, they are terribly inefficient and also troublesome more so on diesels that are not driven hard. The 08-up dpf systems dropped the avg pickup diesel fuel mileage 3-5 mpg and tend to have greater frequency of expensive or at least inconvienent break downs. I deal with that cr@p on a fleet of newer rigs almost daily where I work.
The '11 and up def systems have come a ways towards fixing those problems.
Too bad that it's illegal. A lot of things that are stupid are legal and this is one of them.

What he said. I knew there would be a difference, but I had no idea! I wish I had just bit the bullet and done it 3 years ago.

Yes, a vacuum pump sounds more correct. I will check for leaks in the morning. Hopefully I just knocked one loose doing my mods.

Hope that's it too. If you don't find one loose, the way I found the leak on mine was by capping off vacuum lines one at a time. In front of the degas bottle there is a T fitting where three of the vacuum lines come together. One is from the pump, one goes to the front hub solenoid, and the third one goes to the vacuum reservoir. I was a little baffled to find that the leak was in the line that disappeared under the degas bottle/battery tray. After I drained the cooling system and pulled it out, I found the vacuum reservoir under the battery tray.

I'm adding you to my buddy list as I'd like to hear how that tuner works out for you. I just ran across that brand a few weeks ago myself and was wondering if they were any good. Did someone recommend them to you?

SO, the code will not affect anything? It wasn't flashing on the check engine light. I only noticed through the tuner while checking for why the truck was making that noise?

You sure that "solenoid" you're hearing isn't the vacuum pump that's sitting almost on top of the fuse box next to the master cylinder? The pump provides vacuum for the ESOF 4x4 front hubs, and the AC/heater blend doors in the dash. If you have a tiny vacuum leak, the pump will run more often than normal. If it's a big leak, it runs all the time.

Here's a tip for you, you probably have noticed that the degas bottle and the drivers side battery tray are an integrated assembly. Under the battery though, is a vacuum reservoir that's also part of the battery tray/degas bottle. There's a single vacuum line going to that reservoir that is within easy reach of small rodent-like animals when they climb on top of the front drivers wheel well liner. Guess how I know that?

One must have got bored and nibbled a tiny hole in mine several months back. I noticed the pump running more often than normal after my wife complained that the AC on her side would occasionally start blowing HOT while we were driving. I dismissed it as middle-aged women troubles the first 15-20 times. :M She eventually convinced me I better fix it if I wanted to keep my camping buddy. I had a heck of a time finding that leak, and then once I did, I had to drain the coolant, pull the battery, and replace not only the chewed vacuum line but two coolant hoses I had to disturb as well.

Hope that helps.

I would try asking this question on a Ford diesel truck forum. Chances of somebody on here having the same deletes is rare I think. On a side note, I deleted my Dodge and never heard any strange noises afterwards.
