I can take I-95 all the way up.
We were going to NY to visit 9/11 and other tourist spots and then up to Canada to visit family. We were going to drive the Yukon XL but after pricing hotel rooms in NY (Dog friendly)and not having room for us in Canada we decided to take the TC.
We are going to stay at Liberty Harbor RV park in NJ and take shuttles or taxis around town.
I do have some concerns/questions.
- I recall tunnel restrictions due to propane but not sure where.
- What foods can I bring into Canada. I recall fruits shouldn't cross but what meat and dairy?
- What about water in the TC. Just carry enough to flush the toilet and brush teeth is my thought.

The maritimes are expensive and the 15% tax doesn't help. Diesel was about $5 per gal. Had no trouble getting into CGs in May/June, however it will be considerably busier now that school is out.
Hope this helps.
Enjoy your travels

....try $5.60 a gallon (US volume) currently in the area Mooring Products will be in, in Quebec (the exchange rate is so close, I wouldn't even bother) :B
Mooring: when we drive the I95, we know that there are serous issues (there is a very large road project currently going on) going through Richmond, VA. Then, you approach DC. We usually take the 495 (east) beltway and go around the city (usually after 8 PM or 11 AM on this stretch), then we take the *295* (not the I95) to the *895* Harbor Tunnel Throughway (we've done this recently WITH TC and propane off) to the I95. Then, we take the 78 around all the spaghetti of Joisey/NY (however, you will be going into Joisey, so scratch that one).
I hope this helps :B

If you have time slide off the 95 to us 64 east in nc. that will take you over to mateo and nags head. take the 158 north thru to us 13 norfolk. stay on that thru to wilmington del. hop onto the 95 to cross at delaware memorial bridge. take 40 east to 88 north along the jersey coast. this route will add about a extra day and a half but it worth it since there is so much stuff to see and do. i run this route about twice a year.
Sadly we are on a time crunch. I own my own business so its not easy to get away.

We now live in northern N.H.
And we get YOUR "Q-tips" here during the summer :R
When we see an extra large auto coming at us- no front license plate, looking everywhere but at the road- the locals know to scatter.
Best of luck on your trip.
I spent alot of time in NH and Maine each summer with my Q tips family.

One bit of highway advice- I was born and raised in NYC. And the truck traffic is heavy in a very crowded space, not to mention slightly insane auto drivers.

Did the trip from northern N.H. to Palm Coast and back in February 2012.
Right through the tunnels without even thinking about propane. I didn't see any of those $$$ diesel pushers pulled over to twist some valves.

Think about crossing the Hudson not on the GW but further north at the Tappan Zee or I-84.

Then getting around the beltway in DC is slow at any time day or night. The fastest way to get through and out of Baltimore is with the harbor tunnel. But you will need to check about the propane issue going through the tunnel. Once you get on the Jersey turnpike it will take you right to your RV park without going through any more tunnels. The only tunnel in you whole trip is the one in Baltimore. If you can't use the tunnel in Baltimore there is a bridge you can use but it's slower longer route.
To see the 9/11 memorial, just jump on a ferry boat from your RV park and in a few minutes you will cross the Hudson River and you will in Manhattan, NYC right near the 9/11 memorial.
Be prepared to spend about a $1 @ gallon more for gas in Canada. So if gas is now $3.60 @ gallon in Pompano in Canada it will be about $4.60 @ gallon.

Stick with your I-95 plans. It's the most direct, and really not that big a hassle. Tunnels near Baltimore may be an issue, but if you check, there are alternatives. Staying on I-95 up through NY, you'll be on the George Washington Bridge, so the NYC tunnels shouldn't be a problem.
Will there be lots of traffic? YES!! So, I'd try and schedule your arrival to Jersey City for sometime in the middle of the day, to avoid rush-hour....I think there is a 5-minute span that the traffic slacks off from inbound to outbound:B
Have a nice trip!
I agree, we are driving straight up with no stopping, leaving in the AM. I figured will be getting there mid morning.

Definitely scratch the I-95 part north of the Carolinas unless there is something you specifically want to see along the way. I would go I-95 to I-26, to I-77, to I-81 and then I-78 and find a park in northern NJ or southern NY.
We have reservations for Liberty Horbor already. We will only be there for 2 nights so we needed something close to NY.
Im going to research your route...thanks for the help.
