Duramax class action suit

"General Motors Co. has been hit with a class-action lawsuit alleging it equipped 2011-2016 GMC and Chevrolet diesel trucks with 6.6-liter Duramax engines that are not compatible with American diesel fuel."

What surprises me is that I had associated this issue with the Powerstroke more than the Duramax. The base issue seems to be common knowledge here.

So I am not smart for buying a 2014 Cummins?

Canโ€™t say for sure but at least you bought one of the best diesels out there. Itโ€™s the **** they stick into it thatโ€™s the issue!

No, you said for sure. You said the smart enough not to buy a newer diesel which means you are saying people who did aren't smart.

Most things run better with some extra lubricity!!

I dunno, that luberticty sounds like some good stuff. Perhaps you can get a discount Coopin for a can of it LOL.

WTH is a COOPIN?

Per this article, the CP4 flows 20% less fuel than the CP3, plus at a higher PSI to make the big HP gains. So, if you've already got a marginal fuel pump design that has less fuel lubricity based on the fuel itself and a 20% volume reduction asking it to produce even higher PSI...it's a recipe for disaster that is unfolding.

Well I for really enjoy the difference in power and comfort going from a 2001 Ram Laramie 2500 CTD, to a 2016 Ram Laramie 3500 DRW, it has a CP3, but will start adding Opti-Lube to the fuel for luberticty.

Its not the car companies its the government that requires removal of certain additives. They did the same several years back when they removed/lowered the zinc in motor oils and cam shafts were being wiped out mostly in older vehicle.

Well spoken and true.

While I'm not a proponent of frivolous lawsuits. I do think GM , FOrd and others should be held accountable for the fragile fuel systems designed into these trucks.
The owner should not be caught/liable with a 10k-12K bill when the fuel pump grenades.
Simply put the systems should have been designed with more protection and more tolerance. This issue is not the consumer's fault. Getting a $12K fuel system bill should not be part of the ownership experience. These are known issues and not due to the negligence of the owners. Ford needs to be held accountable as well.
Unfortunately class action is the only way to get the manufactures attention.
Quite frankly the class action process needs to be applied to a few known issues within the RV industry as well

I rule this case in favor of the Plaintiff.

Everyone who purchased one of the listed vehicles gets a coupon good for 5% off a 25% overpriced oil change at Mr Goodwrench.
