Not only do they chew wire insulation in very tough to replace spaces, but the dirty little rodents urinate extensively in tight places, too. Urine not only stinks, but is corrosive to metal, and, over time, particularly in humid climate, will initiate rust that will then continue on its merry way...

Rodents and vehicles are potentially a very bad combination!

I can attest to that. Critters did $4500 in damage to wiring in one of my trucks. Then the shop that repaired the wiring did body damage to the truck, then the shop that repaired the body damage did even MORE body damage, and lied about it - they flat out denied doing the damage.

I live in the woods and rats in the neighborhood are common as well as skunks and raccoons coming for dinner.
Having cars in carport, I did find rats droppings on top of the engines very often, but so far beside clogging air filter on ClasC years ago, they never did any damage.
What wonder me in this case is their taste for government documents.
Beside those papers I had a pouch with Ford manuals in the compartment and rats did not touch those.

You better get on top of that problem before it (could) gets much worse. Wiring fires are no fun!! Plus, they really smell bad!!

Some years ago I had rats (the BIG ones) chew up my boat while under the pole barn. They chewed the wiring (especially the red wires) and all the seats. They made a regular RAT Tah Mahal (sp?) under the V in the front of the boat. Took me months to get rid of them. They are pretty smart.
