I'm upgrading a truck.and i've been looking at a 2015 f150 2.7l v6 eco boost engine.
i've seen good and bad reviews on them, but does anyone have a truck camper with this truck ? or ecoboost style engine ?

I'm looking to get a palomino truck camper, ranging from 1400-1600 for weight.
and looking to have it on an f150.

does anyone have input on what fuel economy is like with this truck ?

or do you suggest another style truck/brand for hauling a truck camper around.

from june to oct. it'll be a truck camper truck and be on full time. other wise the camper will be off and i'll be using it as an every day truck.

please help me if anyone has this truck.

This is how mine sat before adding air to the bags. It didn't look like it needed any.

and i believe this was the 770r model ? mine if i get it ( 625 model) it should be lighter then this.

I like it!! Thanks to Ford"s 6'9" box you can close the tailgate on a 6'6" camper or even a full sized quad. You very well may need air bags. Not so much front to rear but side to side. Most of these campers have all the appliances, water heater, etc down the driver's side. With a lighter truck like the F 150 you may see a slight sag to the driver's side. If you do use bags make sure to plumb them separately so you can adjust the pressure accordingly.

If someone could loan me a mid 2000's F150 regular cab long bed truck for a couple hours and wouldn't mind me putting the weight of my camper on it for a few minutes, I would be happy to make one.

Just to show people what a 1600lb camper does to a stock F150, so they can make their decision from there.

Here is my 2010 bone stock F150 with an 1800# ready to go camping camper. It was also an 8' camper in a 6' bed pulling an enclosed trailer with snowmobile. My present camper is 2300# so I moved up to a 250.

hey that looks good. the travel lite 625 apparently is 12XX lbs. so thats not bad at all. I'm pretty excited. i'll post a photo in a few minutes of a truck also that bought the camper from them, and it fits perfectly in the back with the tail gate up! yahoo!!!

Just to throw out something here. In 2011 I bought a new Ford F350 LB CC King Ranch with a 6.2 V8. Short of having a diesel it was about the heaviest F350 that you can get. In 2013 I put a 3000# Northern Lite camper on it and my wife and I along with our 40# dog went to Alaska in the rig. Now loaded this camper was right at 4000#. I towed our 17' boat for the first 2000 miles to Montana. The total trip was over 11,000+ miles and when we returned we figured out the mileage for the entire trip and it came in at 10.2MPG average.

So as you can see I was carrying a lot more than you are looking at and it still got as good of mileage as the one post on the EB3.5 F150. My truck GVWR was 11,200#

On one tank of gas one time I got over 16 MPG empty. It has 4.30 rear axle ratio.

This is just to show you don't have to get the lightest pickup to try and get some good MPG especially when you are also looking at hauling a load sometimes

The only thing I did to the F350 was add Stable loads to it. After we got back from Alaska I did add 19.5 tires just because I was getting right at the limit on the stock tires.
Butch

I try to always leave doubt to my ignorance rather than prove it

I told you the weight police would be all over you. If you had asked what truck to get to full time camp I'd say a 1 ton but if you camp 3 or 4 times a year, get what you want. The new f150's are very capable. Whether you get a 1 ton or 1/2 ton you're going to have to get air bags or some sort of propping up. Granted I am way overloaded but it hauls the load comfortably and confidently. I just don't go heavier than the max payload f150 as the axles and bearings are the same.

These guys are right about weight, the sticker is usually wrong. my sticker says 1680lb on a scale its 2280. So weight it.

Says who?

My F350 SRW carries our Outfitter Apex9.5 without any suspension add-ons. When fully loaded for a trip the combo is sitting near GVWR and the truck still sits slightly tail high. I even hitched my friend's 22' TT up at the same time to bring out to an event and my truck was still right at level without the use of a weight-distribution hitch.

So with PROPER matching of camper to truck, there doesn't have to be any "propping up" as you call it.

Maybe your f350 had heavier springs. My 04 f350 regular cab had snow plow package, heavy tow package and camper package you could get those in 04. I ordered mine that way,it went to the overloads with a 800lb tongue weight trailer and weight distribution bars.

Mine had the heaviest duty springs, Camper and Snow Plow Pkgs as well.

I never said mine didn't hit the overloads, that's what they are there for after all, and merely stated the truck still sat slightly tail high when loaded. Too many people are mistaken and think their truck should sit the same way loaded as it does empty and keeping it off the overloads (supported by airbags) makes for much more side to side sway of the load.

In fact a good mod is to thicken the pads that contact the overloads so they engage sooner. That helps the loaded ride and has no affect when running empty.

On Edit: I just noticed you had an 04, Ford's load capacities went UP in 05 with the 05 F250 moving up to what the 04 F350 was basically rated at and the F350 gaining some good capacity. I have had three F350s (all SRW/4WD/Diesel) an 04 (Ford bought it back) an 06 and our current 07. The 05/06/07's have the highest load capacities as the trucks got heavier in 08.
