Second, we have a guy come along and says this "aircraft mechanics used beer cans to repair battle-damaged aircraft" are you freaking kidding me with this? No need to go any further with this troll.

Don

Don, for a post that's supposed to be in fun I feel you are being a little offensive here.

I wasn't in the war but I think with a bit of research you would find this is probably true info this fellow posted.

When you had "no" proper material to do a job, you made do with what you could find.
Aluminum cans used to be 2 to 3 times thicker than they are now and would make a fine patch on an aluminum plane (or boat for that matter)

Better than flying around with a 2 inch hole in the side.

We've had a few pickups with wood beds. Maybe they were ahead of their time?

Definitely wasn't the Ranger... I thought it was the Ridgeline, but could certainly be mistaken on that one...

It was the Sport Trac. My BIL has one and it is a composite bed.

Your right... I forgot about the Sport Track too.

Saw a story about this car on CNBC last week. Interesting. You'll know they have arrived when you can walk into a FedEx Office, plunk down your cash and they print you a car! :B

Actually GM had a composite bed and tailgate in the early 2000 model's. I want to say it was an option, but either way I didn't see many.

Ford is being innovative with aluminum.

Wait til they start churning them out in plastic on 3D printers....

Oh, the humanity!!!! :B

Local Motors already does that (or is capable) and there was another company at the Detroit auto show in January that had the capability, though I don't remember who...
