First trip..... Success !!

We took our first trip this past weekend and almost everything went as planned. We headed out Friday expecting thunder storms in the evening and on Saturday but were pleasantly surprised that we only had them on Friday night. Saturday was beautiful and we packed in as much as we could do. We fished, paddle boated, jumped on the jumping pillows and went mining. I meet some very wonderful people and shared/learned a few tips and tricks. I would recommend the Jellystone Park in Luray Virginia to anyone! Every person who worked the park was kind, pleasant and helpful. My DW was prepared for the storms with all kinds of crafts (god bless her!) and the kids had a blast!!! We celebrated my birthday and Mother's Day together camping and wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else.

Love the pics! Nothing like kids enjoying camping, great memories for them and you. Hope you share some other trips this summer as well.

A family that camps together stays together. Even though the cash is tight we just bought our first TT. Looking forward to sharing our pictures. Nice set-up and great looking family. Did you guys eat the whole fish?

ROFLMAO, that was funny! We sure couldn't share with our neighbors so following proper camping policy we tossed it back.

Oh now I remember - you're the guy with a kitchen table full of stuff UPS delivered...so? Did it all come in handy?

You have a great memory! Every thing worked great. We did have to return the original set of wheel locks as they wouldn't spread far enough but everything else is good! I think I may have bought too many of the plastic leveling blocks as well but with the axle spread on my trailer they may come In handy eventually.

Congrats for a successful trip. Wish you many more.

I remember our first trip over 10 years ago. Our water heater went out and we had to microwave bath water for our five month old!

I suggest keeping a camping journal of your trips. Maybe get the kids their own. You just write where you went, how many miles your drove, how old the kids were and some of the things you did. It's fun to read it years later and reminisce of times gone by.

Our only issue was my GPS took me on a short cut down a very beautiful cozy (read tight) two lane road which wasn't a problem until we met another truck in a tight turn! Lesson learned, consult map for directions as well.

I am definitely doing the journal. I already started it as we were prepping the trailer and we be sure to keep it going over the years.

X2 on this!

One of the greatest things my Mom ever did was kept a studious journal of all our activities, including such things as gas prices, steak and hamburger prices, unusual things that happened, etc. It's a joy to read all of these journals 40+ years down the line!

Thank to all! I wish that people in everyday life could get back to the kindness that you find camping!!! We didn't meet one person in a bad mood or come across anyone who was rude. Pretty rare event these days. The journal is a great idea and we are definitely gonna run with that one. We are eagerly awaiting the next trip.
