Ford Excursion Power Seat Inop

I bought my 03 Excursion Ltd with the driver's seat not working. The seat movement buttons and power lumber do not work but the heated seat button does. The truck also had the power medals that do not move fwd or aft. When I had it at Ford they did a quick diagnosis and said there was no power at the switches and wanted to replace the module first (@$500) but said my seat motors could also be bad. When I had the truck at a diesel specialty shop he said that it is rare the power seats and power pedals motors both don't work and said it is probably just the module but I didn't have time for him to order the part. I wanted to know the likelihood that it is just the module because that is something that I could probably replace. If it could also be the motors I found an outfit that if I shipped them the bottom half of seat they would recover the leather (I got wear marks) and fix/replace all electronics underneath for $600 shipping included.

I'll find his email and phone # and post it. He seemed very reasonable compared to getting another used seat in good condition which were $700 and up. On another board someone posted swapping modules from passenger side which I will check into. Sorry to read about your trans issues hope you get it back up and operating (in reverse), in the meanwhile you can just use pull thru sites lol!

Unlikely it's the motors...any way to test one by applying 12v directly to the motor using a jumper? If one motor was good then I would assume they are all good and start with the module. Try Googling around, I found a place in Idaho called Module Masters when I needed the ABS unit for the Suburban, I got a rebuilt one for $250 instead of the $1200 the dealer wanted for a new one.

You might also see what other models this module was used on and see if you get one from a salvage yard.

I would be interested in the name of the company you found for the seat...I have a few rips on the drivers seat bottom and if I can get just that cushion recovered to match the OEM leather then I wont have to go to seat covers.

After 350,000 miles, my Excursion's seats are worn, but still work. I would guess the module as well. Agree with BurbMan that a junk yard is a good starting place.

All motors, very unlikely. I would assume that the fuses were checked first?
