As of this writing it's Thursday 7:00 PM EDT, and no such announcement.

Heat?

Or have those been shown to be ok under heavy loads in the EB?

The EB is limited to a GCWR of 17,100 in the F150. Engines with similar specs in more HD applications are rated for more. My 2005 Chevy 2500HD I used to have had close to the same, even though it had far less horsepower and torque as well as inferior transmission gearing. The old 460 V8 had a GCWR of 18,500, despite giving up over 100 hp and 70 ft./lbs of torque to the 3.5 EB.

In the Transit HD application, horsepower, torque and GCWR are even less than the F150, which is indicative that the EB in it's present form is not suitable for a HD pickup or cab/chassis platform at higher towing weights.

Reading between the lines, it appears to be the replacement for the current 6.8 V10 but may be an option for the pickups.

I had heard rumors of this a while back.

Will this replace the 6.2L or be an additional engine?

This may be a very good alternative to avoiding huge future repair costs with the diesel. Good pulling power from a big block with great reliability.

If they keep the legendary reliably and the benefits of new technology that would be great. Or a early April fools prank.
