Fresh Water Tank Replacement

I own a Terry Travel Trailer from Fleetwood RV manufactured in March 2004, Model 260 BHS. I need to replace the fresh water tank. Do you have any thoughts on where I can purchase such a tank that will be the right size and shape? We are in western Montana if that makes any difference, though I assume this will be in internet purchase, not a store purchase.

Thank you very much.

You won't find it at a General or Camping World, but find a small old-school RV dealerships with a service dept. and they might have tanks available.

Looks like that existing tank has baffles in it, which is a good thing. Helps reduce the water sloshing from impacting your tow.

You got plenty of room to put a bigger tank. If the trailer were mine I would find the largest tank that I can fit between the i-beams. I would take the trailer to a welding shop and have them cut out the tank supports, remove the tank and weld in new supports between the I-beams to suit the new tank.

I wouldn't worry about a tank that hangs from flanges like you have if I replaced the tank. I would have them put in better braces than the ones that you have so that fully support the tank belly so it won't sag when it's full of water. The supports you have right now cause a lot of stress on that tank belly it looks like it barely makes contact in the middle of the braces when the tank belly sags.

I'd also add some black coroplast on all sides of the tank to help keep algae and mold from growing in the tank. Mine has it installed from the factory.

Thank you #1nobby, I was trying to figure that out. Here are two pictures of the tank I have to replace.

I don't know if you would call it oddly shaped, but it is definitely not a generic box shape. It is about 5-inches or so deep, and about 5-feet and 3-feet in the other dimensions, and held up by angle iron around the edges, which means that the plastic tank has edges that stick out to rest on the angle iron. I would gladly attach pictures, but have not figured that out yet.

Thanks.

Is it some oddly shaped tank? I had a 2003 Prowler 722F made by Fleetwood and the tank was a 30 gallon 'box' tank that hung under the floor just above the front axle.

I have no idea what the water tank on my 19 Rockwood is shaped like, as it's a sealed underbody, but it's up front that I can tell and 50 gallons.. I would think it's just a big box too?

Good luck! Mitch

Here you go, take your pick.

I have seen that web site before, but they are all a standard box shape. I need one the same shape as the one currently mounted underneath my TT by the manufacturer in order for it to fit in the place reserved for it.

Just commenting so I can find the link above at a later date. Both the 50G fresh tanks in my 05 Forest River leak and have cracked fitting. We lose about 5 gallons a day out of the 100 we carry when full. Probably pull them out this off season to have them re Plasti welded or just plain changed out.
