Furnace not working first time out. It was a hundred degrees when I did the walkthrough.I dont remember if the guy showed me the operation. I have a suburban furnace. Not sure if I need to do anything at the furnace before I try to use it. I turned the thermostat to high heat but nothing. No blower or anything. What Am I missing? Something simple I hope.

If everything is working as you said it's either a gas delivery problem, ignition problem, or thermocouple problem.

I've seen brand new thermocouples take upwards of 10 to 15 tries before they heat up consistently enough to keep a pilot light going. The solution there is to keep trying it repeatedly until it works or you hit the 10 tries mark. If that don't do it, it's probably not a problem.

Gas supply and ignition problem are probably best left up to a qualified repairman rather than an Internet forum.

Check you have 12v at the furnace after you set your thermostat. My connections had a bit of corrosion; I removed the connections, cleaned them and replaced them.

when I start up the propane system..

open tank valve Slowly... light top of stove burner for 2 minutes.. cleans out system.
then start up furnace.

my opinion. stale / sitting propane in lines does not light very well.

I always test run everything in Camper before a trip. electric/propane/water... everything. and I start the refrigerator 2 days before on electric.

Propane on and flowing (light off ALL stove top burners on HIGH to place proane regulator in service and establish flow)

Good 12V DC is required....furnace uses DC power
So either fully charged battery or Shore power connected so converter can supply DC

Thermostat....check that it is set to HEAT
Then you have to set temp to higher temp then room is at.

When you set t-stat you should hear it 'click' and then furnace fan should run for 30-90 seconds before you hear propane fire off (might take a few attempts until propane flow gets to furnace gas valve)

No click at t-stat...then no DC to t-stat
Check that main dc fuse is not bad (DC Dist Panel...with AC Panel/converter)

Propane is flowing. Batteries are charged and the fuse is good. The slider switch clicks on and set to high heat but nothing happens.

Depending on the thermostat...many have a small plastic on/off lever that needs to obviously be set to on for use. Then you can adjust the sliding needle to the temperature that you desire for use. When you are done your trip select the furnace to off so it doesn't run in storage.

Were you able to use other propane appliances? If so then the air should have been purged out of the lines allowing correct furnace operation. Once you do get it running you can expect some smells and possibly even your detectors going off as construction dust/oils etc from the build process "burn off".

Let us know how it goes.
