Getting truck to pull toy hauler

I recently purchased a 35' Wolf pack toy hauler and am now looking for a truck to pull it. I'm looking at a 2000 Chevrolet 2500 Silverado. I believe this will pull my trailer but am wondering if there's things I don't know... Do I need certain brakes? Any info would be helpful.
I've only had class c in the past so this is all new to me.

1 ton and 3/4 ton will drive basically the same (turning radius, size, etc) but the 1 ton (a misnomer since they carry more than 1 ton these days) can CARRY a larger weight of cargo, which is what you need for a heavy hitch weight 5er.

Fun fact: Many single axle semi tractors are more maneuverable than a crew cab, long box, 3/4 ton pickups, because their front wheels will turn sharper and they often have a shorter wheelbase (144in vs 153).

That really depends on WHICH model of Wolf Pack you really have :H

As posted.....a 2268# hitch weight is NOT for a bumper pull

Bumper pull hitch weights would be 600-1200#

If you would post year/model of that toyhauler better options for a tow truck can be recommended.

I'm in Tucson. Born in kansas city, I'm still wondering if I need a 3/4 or 1 ton truck. I don't want a 1 ton if I don't need it

A 2000 model (from Kansas City, MO area), I'd be concerned about rust deteriorating the frame of the truck. If the frame is rusted through (especially come from snow and road salt country), the frame will never hold up to the rigors of yanking a trailer around (with any hitch).

THat would be a 5th wheel

5th wheel hitch weight (pin weight) is CARRIED by trucks rear axle/tires

That 2268# hitch/pin weight is DRY weight....based on the Toyhaulers DRY 'unladen weight' of 9388# (24% pin weight rating which is typical of THs as they have heavy pin weights to counter weight of toys in rear)

Wet pin weight (TH loaded up with your stuff all ready for camping) will be closer to 2800#
Because that 2800# pin weight is carried by trucks rear axle/tires you need a truck with a 10000# GVWR and a RAWR of at least 6200#

What year and model is that Wolf Pack

Some 5th wheels have 13K Plus GVWR
Some Travel Trailers have 11K GVWR


2000 2500 would not be sufficient if Toyhauler is a 5th wheel and marginally if a TT

Course model/gas/diesel/trim level of Chevy would help also

For a 35 foot toy hauler...go with a one ton truck..It all about payload and toy haulers can have a lot of tongue weight.

The trailer will already have brakes. You will need a brake controller for your truck if it doesn't already have an integrated brake controller which many late model trucks have.

Make sure you get a truck with the towing package which will have an aux. tranny cooler, hitch wiring and probably upgraded suspension.
