Dad,

Do you know the highest/typical 4WD GVWR for them? How about receivers; will they have similar limitations as GMT900 SUVs? And, 3/4 tons?

Have not seen this info yet. Keep watching for it! Suspect there will be more info next week! I will definitely share when I see it.

With no mention of a 2500, if I was in the market, I would start shopping now.

It looks pretty good even with the camo, but I still hate the DEF tank behind the passenger tire. :S

My '97 Blazer has rear seats that fold flat.

Was Kia, and Hyundai building cars that long ago?

I guess GM copied theirselves.......

Anyway, good lookin rigs, can't wait to see them up close.

Interesting to see they stretched the length by 20"!!! And added 2" of legroom to the 2nd row, that was sorely needed. Now that the Sub is as big as the X was, they gotta do it justice with a 2500 version!!! The press release makes reference to the 2500 with 6.2L, maybe it will only be available as a GMC...who knows?

Maybe I missed it, but it looks like the new model is 2" longer, not 22" (current length -- 222", 2015 -- 224"), and the wheelbase is the same as it has been for a few generations now -- 130". BTW, the X was only 226", so it has never been that much bigger than the 'Burb.

Looks good, though -- I'm glad they aren't changing things too much. Because there will almost certainly be one of these in our driveway in the next few years, unless one of the competitors comes up with something that blows it out of the water (ie, a diesel).

Marketing-speak can be confusing...

BurbMan wrote:

What they are referring to is the 20" overall length difference between the Tahoe and the Suburban. Nothing new there.

But the way marketing-speak minces words, they can make what has been the norm for 20 years suddenly sound like it is "new". It is attention seeking. "Check it out. Our product is bigger, faster, longer. Come on down to your local dealer and see for yourself."

But as far as length, it is not that different at all. The wording works though... even on folks who have owned the Suburban for a long time.

While marketing-speak twists the mind into thinking the 80 year old Suburban nameplate got "stretched" 20 inches, they invoke the history (80 years) of the brand. Yet a closer look at that history shows that Suburban was "shrunk" into the 4 door Tahoe back in 1992, not the other way around. But "shrunk" doesn't sound as value added as "stretched."

A review of the overall lengths of previous generations of Suburbans made after WWII, ie, from the 1950's, 60's, 70's, and 80's confirms the fact that the Suburban has remained the same length more or less for the last almost 3/4 of a century.

Sorry I posted a new topic from Popular Mechanics before I scrolled down far enough to see this. Did not mean to step on this post. Let me move it to the top. Moderator can remove mine.

Wow those "fold flat seats" are a neat innovation, wounder were they came up with an idea like that?

Kind of like the panoramic sunroof and cab forward cars. If you can't come up with your own ideas copy copy copy. Looks like GM is taking a page out of Hyundai and Kia's paly book, copy everyone else.

Good point, yes my third row is removable if you can lift 75 lbs above your waist!

Looks like the third row. All of the models in the past, as far as I know, had removable third row seats.

Although the 5.3 "eco" motor is making some impressive numbers with direct injection and cylinder de-activation with a 6 speed trans, economy should be decent too. One "source" said MPG in the mid-teens for the 2500....woo-hoo!! I'm barely in double digits at 10 mpg....LOL....

I'm disappointed there wasn't any 3/4 ton suburban information. Hopefully that info will be released soon.
