Same chassis as far as I know. Maybe minor upgrades. Same LML/Alli/ AAM axle.
Big difference is appearance upgrade, interior and tech options.
The big change came here with 2017 L5P engines.

Considering tow ratings are not legal ratings, only warranty ratings......probably not a LOT of difference. Unless a gear change, many HP change, or some other MAJOR drive train difference occurred. It will more more of a , did the newer versions bells and whistles suit your rear end!

I'd pull 15-20K with my 05, it was not rated for that! It had not issues running down the road at 25K total, gcwr was 23500 for the dually models at the time. 30K total would not have been too bad, other than lack of low gearing for steeper grades at slower speeds...ie camp grounds, 18+% grades here in the seattle area I go up! I'd be stalled out blowing up the allison transmission!

the 2015 really are like the 04'and with 2004 and 2004.5 and now 2015 and 2015.5's. I think your correct, around aug 15 2014 they did a mid year break. I have an 2015.5. there were some color changes, but more importantly, some IMHO nice feature upgrades or new features offered. things like 4G wifi, different wheels a few new colors, electric folding mirrors, cargo lamps, and yes the "duralife" rotors.

As for tow ratings compared to the 2014, can't say.

Why not consult the manufacturer’s towing guides (online and by year) and compare?
