Honda EU3000iS vs Yamaha EF3000iSEB?

We are ready to purchase a generator. Our main reason for getting a generator is so it can run our roof top A/C unit. Please give me your experience and/or opinions comparing the Honda EU3000iS and Yamaha EF3000iSEB. I've been on their websites and compared specs, but I want personal testimony. At the moment, I am not biased or partial to one over the other. We are hoping that your feedback will sway us in one direction! Also, since we are ready to buy, let me know if there are any good deals that are currently going on. Thanks for your help!

I sure haven't found many problems with the Honda. The problems that I have found seem to be related to recalls. The Yamaha doesn't seem to have many problems either. Ha ha, tough decisions!

Owe, didn't know that... That's cool...I always like lots of options if one should fail. I'll be looking into that for my Honda.

Thanks for the explanation.

Even though I have two 25 gal(100#) propane tanks, I could never for my needs use a propane generator. There's always gas in out of the way places but not propane. But that's just me and my uses. Sometimes even in the town I live in, you can't get propane on Sundays.

The kit still allows you to run natural gas or gasoline. I live 60 miles from the nearest town, so having the option to run different fuels is appealing to me. I can store diesel and propane, but gasoline is harder to store and maintain.

You can get a propane kit ,for Honda also......WORD OF WARNING..... right from Tri-Gas propane......THE PROPANE GENERATOR IS VERY THIRSTY.....

Try,,100 lb cylinders......you know the Tall ones, outside Food Trailers, food trucks...
Take his advice.....and HE SELLS PROPANE....

The kit that I'm looking at does not consume a lot of propane. "For instance, a portable 20# grill type propane cylinder is equivalent to 5 gallons of gasoline." Plus, the kit also allows you to run gasoline and natural gas. You can read more about it here:

One could never go wrong with either the Yamaha or Honda. Our local Yamaha dealer only carries Honda generators! Have to order a Yamaha gen.

Do you plan on keeping it in your truck. If so, either of those 3ooo's will do fine. I do not run my generators from the truck, since I want to use it to run around. That's why I have two 2000's. I can get them out of the truck.

My Yamaha with the boost feature runs the AC in any temp that I've been in so far, and starts every time (except when it was -20 and it had been sitting on my porch all winter). It's a good choice.

Go with the Yamaha. It has the 500 watt boost feature as will as wheels. We've had ours since 2004 and it's done everything asked of it. With about 170 hours runtime it's given us no trouble and it starts easy every time you turn the key. You can't go wrong with either unit. Just don't get a loud one.

That's a great chart Ron! Thanks for sharing.

I've owned a Honda 3000is for many years. I think I bought it in 2005. It's never broken down. I do routine maintenance such as oil changes every year. I've also changed the starting battery twice, and it's really easy to do. I keep gas in it at all times in case of a power outage at home, but I treat the fuel with a double dose of Sta-bil. It's never failed to start or run.

I have the Honda 3k and a Honda 2k. To me the 3k is a far better generator, the best I have ever owned and I've owned a bunch including the Yamaha 4k es.. The Yamaha was a good generator but wouldn't run the air over 90 degrees. I'm sure the new IS will?

Electric start on the Honda was the deal breaker for the wife. She doesn't have to yank her head of when I'm gone to start the gen.

I'm sure the Yamaha is a good one as I'm a Yamaha man from head to toe, just not in generators.
