How long do you plan to keep your TV

The Chinese vehicle thread...now ask how long do you plan to keep your brand new TV?

Chinese Vehicles page 6

My sig says I'm not one to change mine out every few years...so my view on this topic skewed to high levels of maintenance & quality of materials/labor/etc

The 1980 C10 Silverado dad gave me is going to go soon...not willing to spend the time & money anymore. After several engines (even a built one where I've caught both daughters beating up Muscle Cars out on the local boulevard).

Nothing right or wrong...just personal opinions and choices...

Looking for demographics of what is driving the current OEM offerings and know their demographics is way larger than what this forum represents...but this one, IMHO, critical to the future of TVs/SUVs/CUVs/etc

The coach and the truck will last me until I can no longer drive, either because I am dead or because I get "too old to cut the mustard anymore". (google it. Folks my age may remember the reference).
The car; well, it might get replaced, but I doubt it. We really like it!
The ATVs will probably be around, same as the coach and truck...

We had a '76 Impala in the family for 21 model years. It was still towing at 20 years. Sadly where I live we have long winters and in the past 30 years they use salt out here. Rust killed it, although the 350 engine went into an '81 Firebird, the rad and transmission into a Chevy pickup and the electronic ignition onto a Nova street rod.

We had a '89 Cavalier wagon, 2.8 L V6, HD suspension factory order. Lasted 14 years before rust got it. Had a '97 Astro, rustproofed it so the rust wouldn't get it...it was taken out in an accident after 10 years. Body was not rusted though.

Have an 2007 Buick 6 passenger sedan. Still running, 90 degree Buick 3.8 liter V6 rust proofed...body fine, mechanics fine. Going on 12 model years old soon.

Have a 2015 Impala (new style), 3.6 liter V6, 6 speed AT. Rust proofed, running fine, no issues.

Like the 2015 Impala, but may trade it in early. Want an SUV with good power. Like SUV as want rear door able to open to flat floor so I can slide groceries etc...in and out without raising over a sedan raised trunk panel. Also intend to do more traveling during winter (visiting kids in different parts of country) so want AWD.

My wants/needs are changing as I'm starting to feel the effects of aging. So ease of loading/unloading important, want AWD/4WD to lessen chance of getting stuck in winter.

But will get new vehicle rustproofed for reasons of extending life of vehicle if we keep it an extended time. Also extended warranty a must, with cost of labour / parts nowadays and I know my limitations. I'm no mechanic or electrical tech. Also I want to fix my costs as long as I can...want no unexpected 'surprises' with no warranty left.

Well, since I own a unicorn, I'm going to keep her going as long as I can.

2008 Suburban 2500 3LT with 171,000 miles. Completely original powertrain. Total unscheduled maintenance costs over the last three years? $23

Only 5,000 were made in 2008, I doubt the numbers varied much until they killed it in 2013. If something were to happen (accident, etc), I'd probably buy a Suburban 3500HD and send it down to Duraburb to make it a towing beast.

I ordered my F150 new in 2001 and plan to keep it the rest of my life as long as it keeps working for what I need. Still a decade from retirement.

Really looking for a plug-in electric hybrid for my next truck if I was to trade on a whim. Going to be a while before this creeps into the one-ton class of trucks.

Since my truck works perfectly what what I use it for, I'll keep it another 5~7 years.
Or more.

I generally keep all my vehicles until they are used up. I think I traded in a vehicle only once. I just donate them to the tech center down the street when they no longer serve my purpose.

That's a tough one to definitively answer, because life has way of changing things. I kept my 2003 f150 for ten years, and 160k miles, but it had to do DD duty as well as tow/haul as needed. Next was a 2013 f250 gasser that I thought I would have a long time. Loved it! Then the diesel bug hit because I want a 5th wheel! So I took a hit on that one, and bought my current 2015 f350 diesel. As much as I loved the f250, I love this one that much more, and will keep it till it cost more to repair than it's worth. I now have a car, and a motorcycle for commuting, so the truck mileage stays very low. Could be a 20 year truck, UNLESS DW, and I get a wild hair and decide when we retire that we want a motor home instead. Who knows? If that happens, I'll switch back to a gas truck.

So that's my story (And I'm stickin to it)!

I plan to have my truck for many years to come (123k is all). My dodge replaced a '97 K1500 that was sold with 244k and not a thing wrong with it, only because my TH (sig) we just bought brand new was a little too much for the truck. Still brought it home with the dependable half ton.

I've got a Ford Escape with 267k on it. I'll do a good job maintaining vehicles and run them till they can no longer be dependable or not get the job done.

My first truck was about 25 years. My current / second truck is a 2005. I will probably buy a newer F450 in 2018 and that should be my last truck.........

I will keep my Van until I know what GM is doing with the next generation. Will either get a new model, or new-last of the old.

However, that could all change tonight shortly after 11 pm. A winning Powerball ticket, and I would be ordering a 3500 Silverado Crew Cab Long Box SRW High Country!
