How to get rid of non working fridge?

I have a dometic 2401 fridge I've removed from my camper and need to get rid of. It has a bad cooling unit and I had to disassemble it to get it out the door. I already found a used fridge on craigslist that works great and is in the camper now. Now how to get rid of the old one?

If anyone wants any parts off of it or wants the whole thing let me know. Problem is I did not reassemble it after removal from my camper.

Excellent. I changed the two starting batteries on my old Land Rover some years ago, and left the old ones next to the Land Rover in the communal parking area around the corner from my house. A week later some kind person had disposed of the junk batteries for me. Of course if you are someone who steals stuff then when you find it is junk you aren't going to take it down to the recycling centre - you'll just dump it by the side of the road 😞

I took my RM2410 to the recycler in exactly the same condition. Actually I kept that bit of metal bracketry - it went into my store of useful metal - it got cut up and welded onto things a couple of times.

When I took the carcass of the fridge to the recycler I assumed the cooling unit with the ammonia would be the thing they would have problems with, but they said that was OK (though they probably don't deal with absorption fridges there so wouldn't know the difference) but what they had to be careful of was the foam insulation, I guess due to the chemicals it gives off if burned.

We have a local metal/appliance recycle that takes them in any condition. They break them down and recycle just about everything. Worth talking to your sanitation folks to see if they have a list.

I had one in my garage to get rid of. And it was a lovely shade of puke green!

I put it for free on Craigslist, describing it as a non functional fridge that needed repair.

They were lined up like vultures to pick it up for free!!

There is no recycyling charge to dispose of an ammonia absorption fridge. Our local metal recycler takes them no charge.

All the metal is in the cooling unit and it's got all those chemicals in it. Will a recycler take it considering the chemicals it has?

See if there is an RV "recycler" in your area. You find them (usually) someplace around major cities

Metal recycler. Might even get a couple dollars for it plus put it to good use.

Landfill/transfer stations will accept them but you will have to pay a fee to drop it off.
