I just got back from a 7 day vacation in Myrtle Beach SC , I left Maryland and did the I 95 route . Now this trip we didnt take the trailer , ( not my choice ) Now I am running with traffic , adverage 70 to 75 mph . I was running the slow lane , I was constantly being passed like I was standing still. So just for something to do I kept count , I was passed by 47 travel trailers , and they were pulling away from me while I was running 75 mph . Both trailers and fifth wheels . These guys were moving , best part was this was in the rain , wet roads and spray . I guess 75 ++ is the new 65

In the left lane or to intentionally irritate other drivers out of spite?

In that case, you would be wrong. It is a reckless and foolish thing to do.

Being from the west coast I have only driven I95 once and that was while pulling our trailer; it was pouring rain too. All I can say is WOW those drivers are freakin nuts. Along with the speed there were the idiots racing along with their flashers on "as if no one else knows its raining!"

Op I get what you are saying. It is the end of summer dash just be careful out there.

So you think the proper response to impeding traffic, even with an impatient driver, is to DELIBERATELY AGGRAVATE other drivers?

At least we know some of the other drivers' rage is legitimate as others intentionally agitate them :R

It's really simple. If you aren't overtaking or don't want to drive faster, STAY RIGHT. Fortunately many states are passing laws to fine drivers deliberately impeding traffic and irritating other drivers by driving slowly in the passing lanes.

You are incorrect. If you are already in the right lane the next recommend step is to slow down to give the opportunity and encouragement for them to pass.

Which part is incorrect? Laws about staying right when not passing are clear. Irritating drivers, especially on purpose, is not wise and adds to the frustration and risks of travel.

You do mention something about already being in the right lane, but that wasn't what I posted about. If you don't want to drive at traffic speed, the right lane is the appropriate place to be.

On the way home from Yellowstone to Oregon HWY 22 is limited to 80mph, 75mpg for trucks. 2/3 of the way home I was running 75 with my trailer and was passed frequently. I was averaging 9 mpg. After crossing over to Oregon I found that I had left my wallet at he last restaurant I stopped. I had less than half a tank of diesel, was closer to home than to the restaurant and the restaurant promised to send my wallet to me. With less than half a tank and no ability to buy fuel the range estimate on my Duramax said I should be able to just make it home. Keeping at exactly 55, being courteous letting others pass easily and trying to eek every last mpg out of the fuel I had I made it home with enough fuel in the tank to make the 7 mile drive from my house to the nearest gas station after my wallet arrived. The gauge on the truck said I got 14.5 mpg in this last stretch home.

If a trailer can do 75 safely and doesn't mind paying the fuel penalty more power too them. Better than the guys doing 55 with a trailer on a single lane with a mile of traffic behind them that refuse to use a pull out even though there is a sign a mile before the pullout that says slow moving traffic is required by law to use said pullout!

From my experience the 55 pull-out ignoring a-hole is more likely to cause an accident than the 75pmh lead foot!

We saw this as well on our trip home from Myrtle Beach a few weeks back. I tow around 65 MPH rarely getting to 70. We were passed by numerous trailers and 5th wheels going I know 75+++. They passed us like we were sitting still and we lost sight of them shortly.

We were amazed at how fast these people were towing.

Slow down people lets enjoy life. As I tell my teen drivers. "Speed and space lets arrive alive"

Welcome to Southern California but add getting cut off every 5 minutes. I recently drove back from KS. Literally as soon as I got past Vegas the horrible inconsiderate rude drivers began. I had forgotten just how bad people driver out here.

The speed limit here is changing to 80, but you can bet we will not be doing that when towing. We drive no faster than 55 - 60 when towing. Several factors for staying with that speed - 1. Safer, 2. Fuel efficient, and 3. RV tires are rated for speeds no faster than 65. DH and I both shake our heads when we are passed by towables going way over the speed limit. What's the hurry? They're risking a lot and for what? To be at the next intersection ahead of me?

I ran my original China bombs to Florida-then purchased the new Carlisle with the nylon belt and ran those up to Maine and back to Utah. Had zero issuers running no more than 60 mph.
