So, the Freezer in this trailer I am purchasing is terrible small. What are you folks doing for frozen meats and foods? I am thinking about getting an ice maker as shown here ( http://www.amazon.com/Magic-Chef-Portable-Silver-MCIM22TS/dp/B00442C8RS/ref=pd_sim_sbs_indust_7)

and keeping a cooler specifically for frozen items. Plus.. who doesnt like a Lime Margarita on the rox to cool your jets!! (Just seems not enough space to keep ice cube trays!!
I guess I could buy ice everyday after driving around looking for it.. but I am lazy.

My setup allows me to bring along a dorm size freezer which sits on my front deck. I also carry a 5-day large chest in the back of the truck always filled with ice. I use a plastic container inside the ice chest so that I can keep cold food in it without getting water soaked. My small inside fridge does not have a freezer at all. We can go a couple of days without re-supplying the ice...

We usually stop at WALMART just before arriving at the camp site and stock up meats and things for a couple of days supply. Almost always have to leave the site everyday for things during the stay anyway...

I haven't looked into it yet but I hear there is a lot of AC/DC marine type freezer/combo now that runs from 12VDC... Would look neat permanent mounted on my trailer deck. These things are probably not on the cheap side.

We use a Food Saver and pack portions based on our meals. It really makes things easy when cooking as it is in the right portions and already prepared. All I do is open the package and cook. If it in the freezer I pull it out and into the frig the night before.

Yup, for the rare occasion we need additional freezer room that's what we do, a $20 Coleman Cooler and $5 worth of dry ice.

I have learned how to pack my freezer in the camper. Packaging around the items takes up more room, so whatevery is in boxes goes, I just keep instruction if it is a new product. By the time I start running out of food in the freezer it is time to go shopping. Same goes for the fridge. Most of the time I can fill the freezer with food for a week & a quart size zip lock bag of ice. Once we arrive I start up the portable ice maker. We also carrier a Yeta with us for drinks.

We also bought an Edge Star freezer. It is 1.3 cubic feet and runs off electric. During travel it is off and keeps everything frozen. Hold lots of meat and frozen foods. Even keeps ice cream rock hard.

Yep that's us, Except we also have a camp stove out there as well. We never cook in the TT.

But really folks. It's a camper, not a house. Everything is different, more compact. Requires a different mind set. It's better

I just keep less frozen foods. Who wants a frozen steak anyway?

Pre-Frozen foods help keep a cooler cool. You can keep bags of ice in the bags to keep it 'clean' for use in drinks and such.

We take a few special items with us, the rest we restock during the trip. About every 3rd day, which we combine with a lunch or dinner out.

A few pre-frozen drinks (water, gatorade, etc) also help and are still quite cold and refreshing when thawed.

Aside from that, we keep an outdoor cooler tucked under the trailer for items not temperature sensitive and reserve the indoor freezer/fridge for more sensitive items.

I gave my ice maker away. It was fine for weekend use but now we are full timers it was not very convenient. We have an ice maker in the refer already. However we do like extra ice chest space and bought a versatile electric ice chest/freezer. It runs on 110 or 12 volts and is very efficient. Without needing ice it holds a ton of stuff.

We have had both an Igloo and Coleman ice chest which keep things frozen or cold for at least five days. We try to open them just a few times a day. We put the ice chest in the back of the truck and when we arrive there is still ice and frozen food in the bottom. Both are over ten years old so I hope they still make them that good.
The few times we take one with our TT we make sure that it is sitting in the shade. Our freezer is quite large so we seldom take it to a campground.
