Just looking at build/price info for HD trucks from the big 3.

Ford - wants your name, email, etc, etc before they will show you local inventory

Chevy/GMC - I'm largely unsure as the website just seemed to reset after building a vehicle. I tried twice with the same results. User error is always a possibility.

Ram - Very easy to use. Build/price a vehicle and they show you local inventory with how close a certain matches your criteria

Full disclosure - I'm a current Ram owner but my truck is sitting at the dealer having the tranny rebuilt at 38K miles. I'm far from brand loyal as my last trucks have been 1989 Toyota 4runner to 1999 Ford F150 to 2005 Nissan Titan to 2006 Chevy Silverado Duramax to current 2014 Ram 2500 Hemi.

I'm truly open to all brands and well may keep my Ram for a while. It's just interesting shopping the different brands and their websites. Anyone have any shopping tips??

1000 ft lbs and how much torque management, under what conditions will they be able to release it. I know they have a great tranny, but you need transfer cases, u-joints, drive lines, rear ends, wheels and tires and drivers that can handle it. Or you just dumb it down with Torque Management!

Turn that much loose and you will not be able to keep it on the road when it rains. Maybe full time four wheel drive?

You can get yourself in trouble real quick with the current Power Stroke if you don't know what your doing... Anyways the new Super Duty weight savings from the aluminum body panels was reinvested in upgraded and stronger drivetrain components. The 6 speed Torque Shift transmission doesn't have the torque management like the 5 speed Torque Shift transmission did.

With aluminum weight savings hopefully they can get the F450's RAWR up from a low 9,100# to at least what the RAM's 3500 is at 9,750#.

They will no doubt have a NEW Allison that will handle more power and an updated DMax for sure very soon.

There's only one with a high mileage club with many 1 million plus mile members, though!:B I'll happily climb the hill a few seconds slower knowing the little I-6 will continue to do it for many more miles, years, times, whatever!

So Fish, since Cummins is ranked at the top, and you're certain that the Duramax "won't be in last place on the power levels", um...who does that leave last?

😄

Let's just keep wandering minds....wandering!

Here's the current power ratings:
Power Stroke: 440 HP
Duramax: 397 HP
cummins: 385 HP

Sorry about the transmission failure.... :E

As for the 2017 Ford Super Duty's you can expect an increase in HP/Torque for the 6.2 and an increase in HP and 1,000 ft/lbs of torque, but nothing official yet. These 6.7PSD are already towing beasts with a transmission that's robost like an anvil and with the upcoming power levels will make that big camper feel like your pulling a dingy. :B

What happened to the Hemi's transmission of you don't mind me asking?

Blown valve body... they are duct taping it back together and it should be done next week, hence the shopping for a new truck.

For anyone who didn't read it on another thread - 2014 6.4 Hemi 2500 w/38K miles. Sitting in rush hour traffic pushed the gas the tach went up and I stayed put 😞

Needless to say I will be a little less than trusting of once I get it back but I might just be overly paranoid. I just don't want it to fail on me when I'm in the middle of nowhere. It sounds like there's some pretty nice stuff coming out for the 2017 model year so I'll likely be off and on shopping this summer. Am anxious to learn the specs on the new Ford - 1000 ft of torque???? Also, I think Chevy/GMC is coming out with a redesign for 2017. Wow, it's a nice time to be a consumer.... these trucks nice these days!

I was curious so I went about this a few different ways. Looked up my local dealer, drilled down and quickly saw their entire inventory, didn't have to give them any information.

Then I went to Ford.com and went to find dealer and again, boom full inventory. Only thing I had to give was my zip code.

Then went to the "Let Us Find it For You" this one allows you to pretty much specify exactly what you want on your truck and this one does want your details. Why? I'm not sure, but at least in the past if you went to a dealer and they did this type of search they were looking at all dealers inventory, a bit more of a detailed search. I keyed in some bogus info curious to see if it would let me advance, it did and of course didn't show many any information just that the local dealer would contact me.

That last search is a fail in my book, but I guess I could have searched area dealers on my own and not given any information so not all is lost you can get the information if you are willing to dig. I'm sure the dealers want you to call them, this is one way to force it.

You need to increase your screen resolution. It is too small to display the sites you are looking at. If you increase the screen resolution, it will effectively shrink the pictures that are too big. If you are on Windows 10, right-click anywhere on the wallpaper picture. Then go to display settings, advanced, and you should see options for your display resolution. Pick one with bigger numbers than you are using.

Also when the site jumps around like that, it's probably because you started scrolling on it before it completely loaded.
