Just got some bad news, could use some perspective.

I had an order in for a 2015 F150 with the 5.0 and max payload package. I sold my 4Runner and have just been driving my F350 until the new one came.

On Tuesday I called the dealer to verify the delivery date and they informed me Ford has cancelled my order with no real help.

My dealer is doing what they can but are limited to what they can do.

So I'm thinking of this:
F150 Lariat
5.0 V8, tow package, integrated brake controller.
Super crew with the 5.5' box

This will give me a payload of just over 2000 lbs.

This should be adequate for our family with just about 100 lbs remaining payload after adding tongue weight, 4 passengers (me, wife, daughter, and dog), tonneau cover weight, and a little fudge factor for cargo and other stuff.

With this I will be back to periodic trips to the weigh scales and measuring the trailer tongue weight and loading the trailer carefully. With the F350 or the F150 with max payload package there is more room for variance.

I tow a spree 318bhs with a maximum weight of 7000 lbs and approximately 1200 lb tongue weight including my blue ox hitch which is really heavy.

Anything I am missing or have not considered.

The one bonus is that this truck will be 1 foot shorter and slightly easier to park than the super crew with a 6.5' box...

Holy snail snot batman...

I just talked to Ford customer service who said there is nothing Ford Canada could do. My deal was with a private dealer and that although they are the ones cancelling the order they can do nothing and that I will not be able to speak to a Ford regional manager or anyone else.

The only deal I was offered was at the original dealer for $1000 off any current vehicle in Ford's inventory. They said they talked to a manager and Ford could likely honor my Costco deal so that is maximum $2000 off.

With financing that would still cost me an additional $2000 to $3000 once interest and other fees are accounted for above what I signed a contract for and placed a deposit for in March of this year.....

Way to go Ford!!!!!

I know that the offer I got for a discount was direct from Ford. You should ask about it. I just have to buy something by 3/31/16 to get the offer.

Good luck

Well, I got my deposit back with no issues but no apparent gumption to make this better.

It's either GM or another Ford dealer.

Call a broker and have him go find you the truck you want. Buying from a dealer locks you in to what the dealer has or is willing to get. A broker can get you any car, any brand, any specs, because they do the shopping for you, and usually get the best price. Check out Syd Dorn. He has found vehicles for just about everyone in our family. He finds vehicles coast to coast and even arranges to have them shipped to the new owner.

Groover, 7-8 months to build you a new truck if you order now? What in holy heck is Ford doing?

From what I have been able to find out they have not been able to get enough frames to meet production and have been forced to changed vendors. Since they can sell everything they can make they have chosen not to bring in the complications of a different frame and knock out as many of the one frame as they can. In addition, they tell me that most of the long wheel base frames (required for max payload package) are sold to fleet users that buy base models and negotiate hard so are much less profitable. The few people like me that are trying to buy a loaded model for personal use are just not adding enough to the bottom line to get a good place in line.

I am not happy about it but after having a 3/4 ton for many years don't feel that I am ready to drop back to a standard 1/2 ton. I do own one already and it is a little soft. I am also not willing to put up with the ride that my old 3/4 ton gave plus my motorhome is not rated to pull a 3/4 ton which is part of what I want it for. I am evaluating options but am not in a hurry so I will probably wait. At least this way I will get the next generation Sync system and may be able to get adaptive cruise control.

Total BS. They are just trying to goose up SuperDuty sales.

They figure if somebody really needs the payload, some non-zero percentage of those people will step up to a SuperDuty.

It is not Total BS. Frame plant has not been able to keep up. We have went short many times and had overtime days canceled because of lack of frames. I can't tell you why they are having problems but I do know alot of management types have lost their jobs over this.

Well the dealer in Carman gave me 4-5 options where as the dealer I bought from gave me 1.

The Chevy is really nice. I kind of like the For better.

They put a 5.0 Lariat 5.5 foot box truck on the scales and we worked back from there. That truck has sufficient capacity for my needs.

Now to get a better answer from a Ford manager as to my options!

Maybe a 2016 lariat 5.5 box with the options I want. We'll see.

I am from Winnipeg as well. When I was truck shopping for my 2013 F150 I went to almost every dealer in Winnipeg and left everyone less than impressed. A friend told be to go to Carman Ford as he had bought all of his trucks there. Wow what a difference. Needless to say that is where I bought from. Totally worth the drive (45 minutes)!!!!

I just talked to the guys in Carmen and they will take one of their regular F150's to the local gravel truck scale and give me some real world numbers as to the curb weight of the truck with a very similar package to the one I am considering which is not max payload.

Next is to get Ford Canada to give me an extra 2K off plus my Costco amount off as well.

If all goes well, maybe next week the F350 will be up for sale.

I just need to see those scale numbers!

Says the guy who thinks you can't tow anything bigger than an 8' popup camper with a half ton. You are being a little bit hypocritical there, BenK
