My wife and I have decided it's time to downsize from the 30' bunkhouse we've had for years. We have been looking at smaller trailers, and we really like the Sportsmen 201RBLE (previously this model was designated 190SRBSS). Any thoughts from people who own this model, or any KZ? I know nothing about the brand. Build quality, durability, customer service? Comments on other brands with this front queen/rear bath/dinette slide floorplan are welcome too, as well as general opinions on what to look for in a smaller unit.

My husband & I have just started shopping for our first travel trailer, and this model is the one we liked the best out of the ones we looked in this past Saturday, so I'm looking forward to reading any other replies to this topic. As someone mentioned, my only real complaint about this floorplan was the lack of counterspace. I'd love to hear about comparable floorplans

I am on my second KZ. First one 2013 MXT20, had it three years and upgraded to a 2016 MXT2920. Both have been great, no issues on delivery for either (I know my dealer did a great job on pre-delivery inspection and fixed a few minor things as they told me, but I never saw any issues).

The MXT20 had a ramp issue after two years, KZ replaced the rear door/ramp no charge. (we hear all these terrible stories about service, my dealer had me bring it in, they took pics and I went back home. They sent pics to KZ, KZ approved it and shipped a new ramp. When it came in the dealer called me, I took it in the next morning and was back home that afternoon. Great dealer and great service with KZ).

The MXT20 was pre-Thor, the service and my MXT2920 are post-Thor.
When a dealer stands out for good service mention there name. We always here about dealers with poor service it would be nice to here about the ones that give good service.

Will sitting in a dinette instead of a sofa work for both of you ?

We tried this KZ floorplan in 2016 and after spending an hour in the dinette, we decided that spending two hours in it , would not work for us.
The sofa in our new Jayco worked out much better for us. At 27' no slide opposed to 24/25' with a slide were approx the same weight and TW , i don't find it to be a problem parking/backing the extra 2-3 ft.
Besides, we like having the optional 90 gal water tank for longer state park (no hookups) stays. The KZ floorplan didn't offer that.

We own a 2016 17RBS KZ Sportsman Classic, very happy with this camper. What's also nice if you need any support from KZ you'll get someone on the phone or you'll get a call back.

Just yesterday i thought my fresh water pump was shot, my camper is 2 months out of warranty, my wife called KZ and they told her to take it to the dealer and they would cover it.

I have a Shadow Cruiser 195WSB, very similar to the one you are looking at.

We owned a KZ Spree 240BH-LX for several years but that was when KZ was a privately owned company, now it's owned by Thor so I can't say whether quality the same these days or not. Since we now own a Coachmen and I'm familiar with these trailers I might suggest the Coachmen Freedom Express 231RBDS although it's a couple of feet longer than that KZ you're considering. I notice the KZ has a "queen" bed but there's no indication I can find whether it's a short queen or full queen ... the bed in the FE is a full 80" long. There's also little to no galley counter space in that KZ but quite a bit in the FE. The Coachmen cargo capacity is also much greater ... might be worth your consideration. ๐Ÿ™‚
