Picking up truck tomorrow and have a local independent diesel tech do the repair and will give a all around appraisal on the engine hopefully.
He said the idler pulley giving out is not uncommon and I should plan on replacing all of them since others might give way soon.
Looking at radiators didn't know they list over 1k for OEM (automatic). Any good (or better) aftermarket also suggested?

I agree but I notice a lot of unfinished truck projects spread the parts all in the cab. Maybe they want them secure or out of the elements I dunno.
Great idea on the pump. I wanted to get everything that is coming up to time to change while I'm in there.FishOnOne wrote:
Storing a busted radiator on the truck seat doesn't seam wise! Anyhow change that water pump while you have it torn down and perhaps that belt too.
I should have been more specific about the radiator on the seat, and that the latest chemistry for antifreeze is very toxic and can be absorbed thru your skin. Make good and sure that seat is free of this stuff.
Good luck...

That is some deep rust on the inside of the engine compartment for something that is three years old.. My 2005 looks nothing like that. Possible flood car?
