Marine Deep Cycle Battery - Kirkland

I was at Costco today looking for a battery for my TT. Saw a Marine Deep Cycle 24DC but no Marine/RV. Canadian Tire has the Nautilus Marine/RV Starting/Deep Cycle 24 DC. Which would better serve me or are they basically the same type of battery? I would rather purchase the Kirkland Costco brand but given it doesn't say RV I am not sure I should.

Costco sell the 6v Golfcart batteries. Put 2 of those on your unit and you will be good to go for 5-8 years. Just don't do a discharge below 50% and leave them without a recharge.
My last set of 6 volts lasted 8 years and were still in pretty good shape when I sold the trailer .

For occasional dry camping use a Kirkland brand RV/Marine battery from Costco will work just fine ... I put a G27 on our previous popup before a long trip west to Yellowstone and had no issues at all with it. If you'd prefer a true deep cycle battery any RV Care dealer here in Canada can sell you one - G24, G27, G31 - that carries a full 2 yr warranty good anywhere in Canada at any participating RV Care dealer. No doubt it would cost more than any big box store battery but the DC versions are true deep cycle.

There are marine deep cycles & then there are true deep cycles.

Correct, those are your basic Marine/RV deep cycle sold everywhere. I put 2 of those on my old trailer when I sold it to a friend and they're still working fine, nearly 3 years later.

While not a "true" deep cycle battery, they are the most common found on travel trailers, etc. They are more of a hybrid starting/deep cycle battery.

The vast majority of type 24 batteries aren't true deep cycle batteries - Kirkland is no different. If your in the market for a reasonably price type 24 battery my experience is that Kirkland batteries will do fine. If your into significant dry camping then type 24 probably isn't appropriate to begin with. Not sure what's available in Canada.

With those bargain hybrid batteries, you can shop by weight. More lead plate is better.

Buy the one with more AMP HOURS......regardless if it has the Marketing Ploy of RV on it or not.
