Need suggestions for camping close to North Carolina shore

Would like Suggestions: We are heading home and would like to camp along the NC shore. We watched the sun go down over the Pacific ocean and thought it would be nice to watch it rise over the Atlantic. Thank You

If you are going to cape lookout be well prepared for beach driving. It is the best of the best. Not crowded no electricity some water ( drinking) great fishing, great location and the best views BUT be prepared air down, 4X4, reserve a spot on ferry @Davis, all the precautions for beach driving. Back road easiest to get back and forth along beach

....Oregon Inlet Campground, if you want to see the "sunrise" (Cape Hatteras National Seashore). There are several expensive-ish campgrounds along the Outer Banks from Hatteras on north in addition to the inexpensive Oregon Inlet (they have been mentioned earlier). I agree also with Ocracoke Island (Ocracoke National Seashore Campground; very reasonable cost) for viewing sunrise.

Hands down go to cape lookout . Take the ferry over from Davis NC. Drive down the beach to the point . You can see the sun rise out one side and set on the other!

How about in SC? There are many great beaches right ON the ocean. Edisto Beach SP? Hunting Island SP? Folly Beach outside of Charleston?

You might consider beaches close to Wilmington, NC - Emerald Isle,NC; Hammocks Beach SP? Cape Lookout National Seashore? Wrightsville Beach; Carolina Beach; Kure Beach;

X2 on the National Seashore campground on Ocracoke Island. The campsites are just over the dune from the beach. No hookups, but they have water at several locations in the campground and a dump station. We spent two nights there last week. The ferry from Hatteras to Ocracoke is free. If you want to see the sunset over Pamlico Sound as well as the sunrise over the ocean, drive through the little town of Ocracoke and park in the big lot at the end of the road.

There is another National Seashore campground further north where you can see the sun rise over the ocean. Oregon Inlet campground is a few miles south of Nags Head and a short walk over the dune takes you to the beach. Possible to watch the sunset over the Sound from the marina across the road from the campground.

There is a new CG that opened a year or two ago called Frisco Woods. There isn't much of a beach there but it is beautiful and on the shore.
Anything south of that and you are going to take the ferry to Ocracoke Island, which personally I recommend. It's about an hour ferry ride and it is no cost. There is a private CG and a NPS campground on Ocracoke. Very nice. A very short walk on the path between the dunes and you are on a fairly secluded beach with very few people and you don't have to deal with the New Englanders (I kid) and congestion. There's some nice restaurants and places to visit in the village.

Rodanthe NC in the Outer Banks.
I recommend the Hatteras KOA or Camp Hatteras.
AT both campgrounds its a 10 min walk to sound side to see sunsets.
KOA has a pier you can walk out onto that is covered on the end
Camp Hatteras also has sites on sound side.

But both places may round $100 per night in prime season.
There are other campgrounds (some less) but I feel the above 2 are the nicest.
If you prefer the no electric/water campgrounds, the National Park service has 4 down in the Outer Banks.

x2 Camp Hatterus. They have a bay side if you want to see the red red sun disappear into Pamlico sound, or ocean side and watch the sun rise. Awesome place. Bring your bikes so you can bike down the road and see the sights..
