New F350 and first trip

I must say I am so impressed with my new truck. Been using cruise control almost 90% of the time which I couldn't do with my old truck. Although the Tundra did an admirable job and I never had any issues while towing my trailer, I could very rarely use cruise control. Have traveled from Maryland to Mitchell, SD with a couple of short drives over the next 2 days getting to Custer.
Looking forward to our 5th wheel purchase next year and hopefully retirement and full-timing in 2018.

It was the hardest one to reach because of the def tank. I removed the spare tire and get it from the rear, no problem. It's best to have someone help but I got it on my own. Its heavy! DW did fetch tools...

Slick Rick, Not to hi-Jack this thread, but how much trouble placing the drivers side bolt did you have installing that Hellwig sway bar?

Mine hauls the 3000 lb truck camper to Assateague Island most weekends and it doesn't feel like it's on there. The 6.7 just goes! And on the sand, no problem. Just air down to 25 psi. We'll see how it does in the mountains next month, we're going to Shenandoah national park, and I'll see how the engine brake works going down the hills. I mostly drive in tow/haul and don't use the cruise control. I did add the Hellwig big wig rear sway bar, it helped. Love this truck!

These 6.7 Power Strokes are some pulling beasts.

BTW.... I still have that big grin after 3 years of owning my truck

Well you should have a big grin, and should be checking your mirrors to be sure that your little TT is still back there!!!
I am surprised that it would even drop a gear going up a hill.

Congratulations on the new truck.

The hardest part is getting the smile off your face when towing. (The wife will think you are up to something nefarious :))

I used the cruise with my 2011 F450 all the time pulling the Cyclone. But I was worried about my new F350 with the 3.55 rear end. Even for our lighter Work & Play.

Not a problem at all. Its a much more relaxing drive towing the camper. I set it on around 66-67 mph and we just roll along. The 6.7 is one sweet motor.

Glad you are enjoying the new tow vehicle Dave! That is quite a step, from a nice pickup, to a full blown TV.

You have covered a lot of ground, to get to Mitchell SD. You will enjoy the Black Hills. I have camped there many times, and still do. The warm daytime temps, followed by cool nights, is perfect for camping.
