Used to have a 2009, loved it. Test drove a '13 not so much. Felt much less solid and/or sturdy. JMO

Since you posted in the "towing forum", I assume you want to use it to tow a small trailer or something. Is this fact? If it is, I'm sure the Escape's towing capability would be limited to around 3500 lbs. Smaller pop-up camper would probably be about as big as you want to go.

Now, if you erred in where you posted and really are looking for a Dinghy, you should have posted in the "Dinghy Towing" forum. Previous years of Escapes had a transmission problem and I think Ford finally gave up on the idea of them being used as such. However, that was a couple of years ago and possibly the 2014's have been modified to allow being towed 4-down. Hopefully, someone who is knowledgeable of this will chime in.

If you are just looking at an Escape for a passenger vehicle, I'm sure they are very nice...Ford has come a long ways in the past few years in producing some very nice cars.

Hope this helps

Ron

Not going to be a dinghy. I have a Super Duty to tow anything I need. It is going to be a daily driver for DW.

If you look under the title of Tow Vehicles it says "If you are wondering about SUV's, pickups and autos this forum is for you".

Where should have I posted my question?

We test drove them all, and the new ford escape had as much to offer as any. Ours is a year old now ( 2013 ) Only real complaint is the center console could have a little more room, not much room for a cell phone or whatever. No problems other than a squeak in the brakes that had to be fixed . Has all the power you could ask for in a 4 cylinder EB . We have the Titanium so it is fully loaded .

Our second choice would have been a Hyundai Santa Fe , but price wise ,option's mileage etc they had nothing over on the Escape., and oh ya you are okay posting here.

I have a 2009 model, what would you like to know?

2014 Escape is not flat towable. Check the owners manual it has to be Trailered.

Nice vehicle, but matched by others in its category. It fits in a class of vehicle that makes a lot of sense today, capable, roomy and economical, but not so much for towing.

Not much room in the front way too tight for me. Right knee against console left against door I will stay with my truck.
