New truck...RAM

Traded my 2012 6.7 F250 for a 2014 Ram 6.7 3500 SRW yesterday. Wanted the additional payload and the much nicer ride and nicer interior is a bonus. My F250 had power to spare, but I was pushing the limits on my pin weight. I hope the new Ram pulls the camper as well! Are you Ram guys pleased? Been many moons since I've driven a Dodge.

There has to be a lot of torque management on the Cummins. On any 0-60 tests I've seen the Cummins is slightly slower to 60 than the Hemi, yet it's much more powerful.

Put 950lbs in the 6.4 hemi's bed and see if it can still beat the Cummins from 0-60. That's apr the difference in curb weight.

You mentioned the Ford feeling like it has more power from the line..sure seems that way. Had a friend with a 2012 F250 King Ranch...it ran like a scalded dog...no mods.
I have a 2012 Ram 2500 (6.7L diesel)...off the line, it has to build speed. Tranny on it is just a bit weird. There are those out there with a O/D software package that helps with the tranny a bit.
Nice looking truck....you will enjoy it.
For those that are trouble free...hope it stays that way! I had a 2010 for a week that ended up with motor issues. Bought the 2012 and so far it has seen the shop for new O2 sensors and wiring harnesses at 38K and change.

Yes, my 13 has A LOT of toque management. I still love driving my '05 more. We are going to do the first real pull test this weekend. Take the rig on it's first trip. I'm curious how it's going to compare with ole Blacky. (my '05).

Congrats on the new truck! My 3500 SRW Cummins Laramie should be here any day (ordered 6 weeks ago). I ordered the factory prep package, and am debating slider or no slider. What hitch did you go with?

My hitch is a Pull-Rite 16K.

that is what I am going to go with if I need a slider I think. I assume it just pinned right into the picture frame adapter? Have you had a chance to hook up the 5er and see how level she sits? I am worried that with the picture frame adapter and the height of the 3500, it might be tough to get everything leveled (some others have been having issues...notably some Jayco's).

PM NChauler, I believe his new Ram dually 4WD is 58.5" at the gate. Mine is 58". Difference is I squat about 4", he only squats about 2 IIRC. He has the picture frame also and had to adjust his hitch down one notch ( 1"). YMMV though.

VERY nice looking truck!!!!

I just don't like trying to keep black clean.

The RAM is deceiving. I was hauling a friends Allis Chalmers 185 Tractor the other day the load was around 18K combined. I accelerated onto the freeway and the ramp was on an incline and I was 70 easily when entering the freeway. I have the 3:42's also.

You will love the truck. I have almost 50K on mine and has been trouble free.

I can tell you already that my Ford 6.7 FELT more powerful, it really put you back in the seat when you stepped on it hard. But mine had 3.73 gearing, whereas the Ram has 3.42. I thought, during the test drive(s) that the Ram was much more refined and smoother feeling. One thing I'm very curious about is fuel mileage. I was averaging about 16 mpg in the Ford just daily use, about 10 pulling. I'm hoping the Ram does that well!

I think what you're feeling is maybe the torque management on the RAM. It took me awhile to get used to, but you'll probably be glad you have it if on slick pavement. I came from a Ford F-350 6.0 SRW to the RAM 3500 DRW and in comparison, accelerating from a stop the RAM seems slower to get going. But once you hit 3rd, 4th, 5th the RAM will keep accelerating and never look back.
