New TT Shelter

I am so happy. We had our shelter built today for our Wilderness. We have been wanting to do this for several years and finally bit the bullet and did it. I know it will be well worth the money to keep the camper out of the sun and rain.

Notice the rear bulkhead of the side patio. Our ac clears the matching front bulk bulkhead by an inch.
Carefully back it in, turn, straighten out train, watch first and second curb side poles.
No other camper will work unless its 9' 5" max and equal tail swing. Inside building is a 40ft PREVOST.
Is that your TV parked in front? I don't think its rated to pull that TT ๐Ÿ˜‰

Tight clearances, keeps the urge to go bigger at bay!:B

We got a cover for our ROO back when it was new in '07. Started thinking small, but with DH woodworking equipment and RC airplane stuff, there was no room for my little convertible in the garage. Design kept growing and think we ended up at about 26 x 36. Seems like the cover installed was right at $3000. The downside was that our property slopes toward the pond, so we had to build a retaining wall on 3 sides and fill and fill and fill and build some more and fill some more. So glad we did in August!!! Think the final bill was around $6000, but we feel like it was worth every penny. Only thing we didn't do was to have a partial wall at the back, so the rear bunkend needed the decal replaced after 7 years. Going to check into some remedy for that by spring. Our new TT is not only longer, but has a deeper slide...makes getting my car undercover more of a challenge, but the cover protects Rocky, my car, a small utility trailer and a huge log splitter. We have plenty of slope for any snow load - not likely in West TN but it's there. My only concern about the fabric would be that it would not last very long with the sun/rain/snow, however, much less costly.

here is a pic of my new shelter back has a 12x12 slider door on it and I wish I had went taller like everyone says but any higher I felt would have looked funny because it is close to my house.

You won't see many of those things up here in the north. They can collapse under snow load.
Certainly, not all of these shelters are built the same.
I have a fabric covered one and a metal covered. Neither have collapsed due to snow load but I have, on occasion, removed the snow from the fabric cover. When I saw the weight of the snow depressing the cover down 6" directly above my 530, I knew it was time to get the mass of ice and now off. :E

I just replaced the fabric cover, this year. IIRC, this was year 10. The metal roofed shed will last longer than me.

We bit the bullet about 8 yrs ago, and I built a roof off the shop for our old fifth wheel.Really made it last longer. 1989 and not rotten. When we got the new trailer it was a bit taller and we dug trenches for the tires gained just enough room.

I love this carport shelter. Are they reasonably priced?

Depends on the width and height you want. Ours is 20x36 with half sides and was right at 4k, but if we ever stop camping we can close in the ends and have a huge storage building ๐Ÿ™‚

It's been raining and cold here this weekend and I haven't been out to take any pictures yet.

We didn't get one of the cheaper ones that you see for sale everywhere. Ours in a heavier gauge metal (although it looks just like the cheaper ones). We have very little if any snow here in SC, so the snow shouldn't be a problem. It's rated for 110 mph winds, but if the wind is blowing that hard, I have more problems that just protecting my camper!

We looked at some of the fabric ones. You're right, they were as much as the aluminum ones. We also priced a stick built one. That just wasn't in the budget this year or the next several years either!

when I was looking at portable garages for my mom (she couldn't put anything permanent due to building codes) I discovered the shelter logic big enough for my TT were almost as much as the aluminum ones like markiemark has.
