Newbie purchasing used TT

Greetings. We are looking to purchase a used TT. This will be our first experienc. We are needing a TT with 1.5 bath, 4 separate bed/sleeping areas that will sleep 6 people. I went to a dealer that had a 2011 Keystone Cougar 298BHS TT. Can anyone suggest other models as I have looked at websites and not found any. Thank you.

If you are looking to replace the tires on the TV ('08 Expy) I would be looking at some LT tires in the size you currently have (not sure if you have 18" or 20" wheels). I would try to go UP a load range from what you currently have on the TV.

I would definitely be looking for a "lite-weight" TT. There are endless bunk models available. I would recommend,d used as your first TT. I have had good luck with my Rockwood.

I wanted to post an update. After much research on the 2008 expy we gave up the bath and a half and went with a much lighter TT. Can carry about 7200 which is less than the TV tow capacity. Next item ...tires for the expy. Any suggestions? Have a "high end touring, smooth riding tire" according to the manufacturers info.
thanks

Thank you for the information. Looking into the tow package. Appreciate all the detailed information. Definitely will be looking at the lighter TT.

First thing you need to do is find out what your actual towing capacity is. If your Expedition is not properly equipped, you don't have the capacity to tow something as large as what you are looking for.

Here is a link to Ford's 2008 towing guide. It lists the maximum payload and tow capacity (with optional heavy duty towing package) as 1600 and 9200 lbs. If your Expy does not have that package, your capacities are much lower. Some versions of the Expy, only have 6000 lbs tow capacity and 1200 lbs payload.

Keep in mind, payload is your capacity to carry the combined weight of fuel, people, cargo, and trailer tongue load. Should be a loading sticker, on your drivers door post, that shows your specific payload.

You are looking at trailers that will need 1000 to 1200 lbs (possibly more) of your payload. If you have the max capacity, that would leave 4 - 600 lbs for people, fuel, and cargo. If you don't have max capacity, you could be over weight, soon as one person gets in the vehicle.

I don't think you are going to find any 1.5 bath TT that is within an Expedition's ratings. You are limited to about 900 pounds of tongue weight, which is about 7000 pounds loaded and under 6000 pounds dry. Depending on payload and how much those people weigh that are traveling in the Expy while traveling, you may be looking at even lower weights.

So if you want cannot compromise on the bath and a half, you will be compromising on the tow vehicle, like replacing your Expy with something like a 1-ton passenger van.

Something like the Keystone Passport 2920 or Bullet 287 might be a good fit for your Expy.

We looked at many, but the numbers just weren't right for us to pull something that had the 1/2 bath. They weighed about 1,000 lbs over what we felt comfortable towing with our Ford F150 EB, Crew Cab with HD and Max Tow.

Those things are HEAVY!!

1.5 baths is rare in a TT. Park models maybe. If you can give that up, there are plenty.

Most all RV companies have a bunkhouse model that should fit your needs. There are some that are really heavy, some that are lightweight models, just depends on what you want. The Cougars are nice. You might also want to check out Rockwood Signature Ultra Lite models. Forest River makes many of them. Go to their website and just click away.
