From time to time we all hear about places that don't allow Truck Camper, but yet never seem to run into these places. A posting was place on one of the Facebook sites I belong to and sure enough there it is a RV place that states NO Truck Campers. I admit this is the first time I've ever come across a place that said No TC's period!

The Great Out Doors

I personally wouldn't stay there anyways..too pricey!!!

We have camp gathering twice a year with me and all my buds getting a site next to each other. We all have older rigs. There are a few diesel pusher high dollar rigs that may show also. They are in a sense becoming part of the group since they tend to gravitate toward our fire. Lots of interesting stories.

Somehow this whole conversation reminds me of what Groucho Marx said when he was admitted to the Friar's Club: "I don't want to belong to any club that will accept people like me as a member."

When we traveled to FL with our 5er we parked at a resort for a couple months. On one side of us was a very nice TT and on the other side was a million dollar Newell Class 'A'.

TT folks were good neighbors, quiet, courteous, and hospitable. Class 'A' folks were loud, constantly screaming at each other or their barking poodle who had more personality they the couple did.

No TCs allowed, but obnoxious people with money were. Go figure!

Thus one of the determining reasons why we gave up the RVing lifestyle, sold the 5er and bought a TC. We much prefer the 'camping' lifestyle with the friendly folks we meet enjoying the great outdoors this country has to offer.

The only issue I've had is the CG freaking out when I take it off the truck, never been denied, but then we stay at pretty rural CG's and out of the way places...stay away from bigger cities.

I think this is the best way to deal with the issue. The two lifestyles seem to have a naturally occurring dividing line that doesn't need to be defined by rules.

I know when I'm sitting in my coach with my wife Muffy at a class A only resort sipping port, petting my afghan hound and and looking out the window, I certainly don't want to see some truck camper!

Ha ha ha!!! They also absolutely ruin the view of the polo fields.

I've never been turned away and couldn't afford the places that would turn me away. I have been asked not to remove my camper from my truck though, But it was for a reason that escapes me. Work going on in the campground I think. Growing up in the sixties and seventies as a career army brat My father was asked to move on a couple of times because of Vietnam. He just drove to the next campground. No big deal! I guess I picked up that mentality, No big deal, I'll give my money to the next guy.

Welcome to my world when I was traveling by motorcycle. I was riding a Goldwing and we were not allowed into many campgrounds because everyone knows that "bikers" are bad news. We probably didn't want to camp next to them anyway. We were all about sitting around our campfire drinking a bottle of good wine. We never passed up the opportunity to invite the neighbors over and share our wine with them. Most of the time, we ended up eating their snacks that they brought along.

Lot of California RV parks have 10 years rule.
However they never complain about my 30 years old Prevost.
Don't think you should try with 30 yo camper.

Wow judgmental for a business that points out why it doesn't allow TCs and that reason is not because TC owners are scum.

They require the RV to be self contained and not all TCs are - so they would have to inspect your TC before accepting your reservation. Which is unrealistic and more irritating to the TC owner.

Of the parks with restrictions, I find this one to be rather reasonable. I don't see the Class A/rich people snobbiness in there.

Heck they don't even have a 10 year rule.

I used to live in CA neighborhood where even 20 years ago lot of houses cost over a million.
When neighbours would never say anything directly about my RV park behind the gate, the citizens forced city ordinance that prohibit parking RV, or boat, or truck unless you can cover it 80% from the view.
Since my backyard was steep slope, I had no spot on my 0.6 acres that would hide my bus conversion and was forced to park my coach in different city.
So they might not say it into your face, but they will get behind you. At the time when ordinance was into making, I start counting and in city with population of 17,000 I counted 5 motorhomes park on the side of the house. The city zoning required min 0.5 acre building lots, so parking RV on the street was never an issue.
Oh, BTW the city also had ordinance that max for front fence was 4' and it had to be transparent.
How is that for right to use your property?
