Odd payload numbers on the 2017 F350 DRW vs. 2016 F350 DRW

I'm sure this has been covered but it's a nice bump up in payload. Good to see the military grade aluminum (whatever that means) is giving us more carrying capacity 🙂

Correction. Somehow grabbed part of the the F-450 line by mistake :S

Bit confused by this. Somehow they shaved off 740 pounds from the regular cab wheelbase but only 80 from the crew cab wheelbase. Maybe the "military grade aluminum frame" doesn't span that far?

Any ideas? :?

I think your numbers for 2016 are wrong. Looking at Fleet Ford:

Not seeing the 66 gallon:
Reg = 29 gal
Super = 34 gal
Crew = 48 gal

When your starting point is 14,000 GVW done for licensing purpose and the truck gets lighter, you have more of "paper" cargo capacity.
But did the lighter weigh come from lighter frame only, or lighter suspension as well?

I think this is fudging of the numbers based on descriptions of what actually changed 2016 vs 2017 that I've read.

There are some things I really like about the new Fords, like that the fuel tanks are going to be 66 gals.
The increased height, not so much.

If it is Military Grade, Ford should be able to provide the buyer a copy of the Specs on the Aluminum. I wonder what their response would bed if they were ask to provide the Spec Sheet.

Body gets lighter so of course load capacity goes up.

It's all good.....until you need some body work done.
