Been racking my brain between a Chevy 3/4 ton 6.6 gas or another 1500 5.3 with the NHT tow package but found out you can get the 1500 with the 3.0 Duramax this year with the NHT package. So we have a new refreshed 1500 RST Diesel,10 speed with the 9.5 3.73 rear end, heavy springs and shocks and a 12,900 lb tow capacity on order. It should be great towing 7,000 lbs.

My post was about my new truck I ordered. No mention of why, where or how or how much I paid. That is all insignificant to me and not sure why it's so important to others. You work hard, you do your home work and buy what you want. Pure and simple.Nothing is getting cheaper. Thank you all.

Nothing to do with the OPs new truck or him in particular, but I am flat amazed at the magnitude of shear financial stupidity of such a large number of people since this inflation and availability thing took hold.
The fact that so many people are buying new vehicles when there’s virtually no way NOT to overpay, when they have perfectly good vehicles already, is just mind blowing.
Goes to prove that the instant gratification mindset is firmly planted across all age groups.

Pretty heavy assumption there. You have NO idea what other peoples finances or needs are about and you have NO idea what is important to some and what is ridicules.I don't think it's too smart putting a 6" lift on 37s on a 3/4 ton but to each their own.

I know you are always correct, but in this overpay environment that you identify, the OP might be being overpaid on his current vehicle. So he might be receiving $6k more on his current vehicle than 18 months ago, and will pay $60k for a brand new vehicle, with safety features, comfort and a three year warranty. He will not need overpriced replacement tires since they are already included with the new overpriced vehicle.

So I know the Grit method is the only approved financial planning that is correct in North America, but sometimes the millions might see things differently.

Thank you for sharing.

Working at a dealership, I can tell you the ratio is no where near what you think it is! Parts are not overpriced, but vehicles right now are.
And most people buying a new truck are trading in a 2-5 year old truck with all the same safety and convienece features.

Yes you are late - and OP ordered the truck. You failed to save him from your bias.

Maybe it's not too late to change my order!
Did you know that all those class C and B with a Freightliner,Dodge or Mercedes front ends on them are nearly all 3.0 diesels?
Thanks for your input

May want to relook into that. All the pro masters are 3.6 gas. Most of the Fords are also gas. The Benz is a mix, but leans more toward diesel.

Just posting my real world experience with small diesels. They are not all that great!

GM has communicated to dealers the changes related to the shortages of chips. Yes, heated seat and heated steering wheel, parking assist will not be complete.

GM informed the dealers that when chips are available, they will be paid to install them to make these options function.

The Flint HD plant continues to build, and Oshawa is now building HDs as well. Based on the supply chain, and the options, timing varies. It appears that getting your vehicle may be like the lotto. If all the parts line up on that day, and the transports are empty, you win. Someone in CA got a Black 2500HD Dmax that was built, shipped and delivered in January. Others not so lucky.

My truck that was built in October is still in Flint, and I am only 50 miles away. I am waiting on that truck because the heated steering wheel and heated seats were installed (although it may be warm by time it is delivered), and it has the park assist.

I believe that there are many suppliers hiring in the Flint Mi area in case anybody is looking for a job.

I has a 45 minute long BS session at a GMC dealer last night discussing ordering a GMC 3500HD gas with the general manager. The story remains the same as it has been since the previous discussions I've had there over the last 6 weeks or longer. GM will not give dealers any production or delivery dates.

The dealer has people who put down deposits in November or earlier and have yet to receive their ordered vehicles. When vehicles do arrive they may or may not have the ordered options or they may come in with inoperative options such as heated seats. You get the switches for the option, but the electronic module to control them is MIA.

They had an ordered Denali Yukon XL arrive, almost $100K on the sticker. No heated seats, no heated steering wheel, inoperative trailer brake control, inoperative adaptive air ride suspension, and no remote start. GM credited back @ $550 for the above with the option for the buyer to return at some point to have the missing components installed if and when they are available, and thats an assumption on the dealers part as they apparently have no official directive from GM on that scenario. Crazy times.

Personally I'm about 99% over into the forget about a new truck for now column. I'll just hold onto the paid for 6 year old 2500 with 55K on the ticker. I wish the OP luck on his deal.

As a side note a coworker received a Ford F250 with Tremor package he ordered. It only took 7 months to arrive. The bright side was all ordered options were installed and actually worked, and he was out the door a few thousand below sticker which is almost unheard of right now. Cash deal no trade.

Thanks Bob! Yes, it's a very nice tow option. Heavier rear springs and shocks, bigger rear end and instead of 3.23 gears you get a 3.73 with the Duramax. And extra coolers on some of the models. Can't wait!

As far as comparing prices, it's really hard since Chevrolet's website has not been updated to the refreshed 1500 version yet and although, when you do add the 6.2 engine, it forces you to buy other things and ends up being more and things like the NHT package do not show available with some builds with the 2022 LTD since it's a new option. Until Chevy updates it build option on it's website, the only way to get real prices is through a Chevy dealer that is willing to take the time and build your truck. As far as I know anyhow
