Question for those with the Progressive hardwired surge?

I have purchased the 30 amp hardwired surge with the remote. I will be installing it this weekend.. camper is currently in storage at my dealer... they don't have electric so I cant test it until im at camp this summer, but I will hardwire it this weekend. My dealer is gonna do a NYS inspection end of month... if he plugs the trailer into shore power and then flips the main breaker, how long does the surge protector take to cycle before it turns on power? I want to warn the dealer.. I don't want them to flip the breaker and think something is wrong.. does it take awhile before the camper powers up? im probably gonna set the time dely to the 300 seconds..does this mean it wont turn on power for 300 seconds??? thanks

I'm just wondering what shore power and flipping breakers has to do with a NYS inspection. :h

Must be way different than PA - here they check the hitch connection, tires and brakes, then pull the breakaway cable and tell you to try to drive forward. Never plugged it in to shore power...

All the answers sound a little confusing to me
but that's probably just me :).

If you have the EMS installed in the camper when you plug in the shore power the EMS remote readout shows it's information. No power will be forwarded to the breaker panel in the camper until the EMS delay times out then things will power up. Usually easiest to tell when by just watching the micro wave oven display.
Any time the shore power is interrupted the time delay goes into effect.

In talking with the Coleman Company Tech about the air conditioner while installing my EMS last year he said that Coleman does not install a time delay in the compressor circuit in the AC so I should use the longest time delay available on the EMS to protect the ac compressor. So that is what I did, not really all that long of a wait.

Does that sound correct to you all?

If you are talking about flipping the main breaker in the trailer... The surge protector is wired in in front of the power distribution center.

There is a delay when plugging in - but as long as shore power is constant, turn off the breaker as often as you like. Immediately upon turning it on you have power thru-out.

I have mine set for 136 sec. Delay. It's a little annoying sometimes, but, I won't burn up the AC from a momentary outage.

LOL, beemerphile... the hardwire looks easy..i have installed jacks and outlets before.. I am afraid of the fan because of messing with roof..i rather them seal all that up..haha

It will take a while for the transfer switch to recognize that it is receiving shore power and switch on. The dealer should know that there is a delay until the transfer switch kicks in. The surge suppressor should not affect the power to the coach unless it has a delay feature built in.

if that is the case, I should leave the jumper in for the 15 second time delay.. and then when I get to camp, take it out for the 136 seconds..this way the dealer doesn't have to wait? im not sure if I have this right.. if I pull the jumper, then I have to wait 136 seconds for the camper to powerup?
another dumb question, will the display lights work with the breaker off? or do I have to turn on breaker in order for that remote to work? I guess im not sure if that progressive box is live while the breaker is off?

Display will light up and show voltage. power will not be applied until the delay times out.
