Two choices, Companion 20K slider or the Companion 25K. You bought what you felt was the best truck now buy the best hitch.

Read my comparison of the Curt vs B&W thread "Curt Q24 or B&W Companion 20"

Harness is a given. So $265 for pucks is a bargain. Mor importantly a MUCH better attachment system.

Thanks Chris!

Factory option is the pucks, gooseneck and the in bed 7 pin. So factory option is cheaper overall.

I do not need the gooseneck hitch, so it worked out for me.

It would not be a deal breaker if I found the right truck without it. It’s pretty simple to install a B&W gooseneck in a Ram without a fifth wheel prep package.

Thanks!

My truck has the factory prep but I already had the Companion so I removed the factory gooseneck and put my old turnover ball out of my other truck back in.

The Companion won't work with the factory gooseneck connection?

Nope! Andersen will however!

"MeAgain can chime in but I think the cost of the four pucks plus puck B&W would be similar in price to TurnoverBall plus 20k Companion. "

I would do the pucks over the GN prep unless you plan to haul a GN trailer.

My thought was to just buy a standard companion with the B&W hitch. It does sound nice having just one hole in the middle of the bed vs 5 for the fifth wheel/gooseneck prep package.

Can you get the Ram with only the pucks or do you have to have the gooseneck as well?

The footprint of the Ram pucks is by far the most stable looking as wide as it is.

Thanks!

Jeremiah

RAM prep comes with all five holes. MeAgain can chime in but I think the cost of the four pucks plus puck B&W would be similar in price to TurnoverBall plus 20k Companion.

The puck system is better for sure.

Yes, if you do it yourself. It took me 4.5 hours working by myself. Two people could do in much faster. Chris

Hmmmmmm. I did say I would help but someone got ants in their pants. He seems to mention quite often how it would have been faster with two. :B
