I had the recall done yesterday at the dealer. Seems that it is a cat and amonia sensor that got replaced. So far drives like normal. I hope the mileage doesn't suffer anymore than it already does.

REPEAT, they will ONLY replace the WP if it does NOT have vent/weep holes. They DO have to inspect every vehicle on the recall list.

Did the defective pumps include service replacements? I replaced my WP back in 14 I think. I used a pump from Cummins - could I have a bad one?

very unlikely cummins would have sold you one of the faulty ones... its the same pump they have been using for a long time on their industrial engines... not sure how Dodge came to get a batch of faulty ones.

if you have replaced it on your dime, you can submit the reciept for the pump and cost of repair to chrysler for reimbursment...

when mine failed, it threw the belt, which wrapped around the fan and took out the wiring and fan control.... it was all replaced under "incidentals" due to a recall that was too slow in coming. because they didnt release the authorization for their dealers to do the recall until november 1st of 2017, and then it took a while for them to get the new waterpumps in to do the upgrade..
my waterpump failed the 2nd week in october of '17.. 2 weeks before the recall could have been done.

I purchased my replacement from cummins... it was correct.

My dealership said that when I get the recall notice, I should bring it in, as they STILL need to replace it under the recall to insure that it has been done correctly and with the right waterpump.. and I will get to keep the one they remove...

Did you look at the pump? Was it missing vent/weep holes? From what I have read the ones they WILL be replacing do NOT have the holes as they are the ones causing the problems. Ones with holes don't get replaced.

That sucks to get stranded!!!

I am wanting them to get the **** water pumps available so I can get that swapped. I got stuck on the side of the freeway once already and don't want to repeat that experience.

Your pump went bad on your current 15?

Yep, in Bumble*uck, Oregon on a 100 degree day towing the camper home from a vacation last summer with the family. I only had about 30,000 miles on the truck at the time. It was not a good day.

Is this the one where they simply remove the ammonia sensor in the exhaust? If so, I think mine was already taken care of. Didn't have any problems before or after.

Probably nice if members know what it's about:

"The EPA and California Air Resources Board have demanded a recall of 2013-2015 model year Ram 2500 pickup trucks with 6.7L Cummins diesel engines because moisture can lead to the deactivation of the selective catalyst reduction system, causing excess nitrogen oxide emissions, Cummins said.Nov 14, 2016"
