Recently I upgraded to 19.5 wheels/tires and have been thinking it's time to upgrade my old (1986)camper. So wondering how much weight others feel they can safely carry on their rigs rear axle for comparison purposes for those who wish to share.
Here is the Poll question: How much weight are you carrying on rear axle of your truck fully loaded with camper, water, gas, propane & any tows? Specify your configuration with the weight.
Here is my answer in bold to the poll with my current truck/tires, no tow for me.
99 F350 V10 SRW 2WD 245/70/19.5F, rear axle weight: 6980 lbs

Your post got me thinking. I could probably carry your AF 990 with less than 8000 on my rear axle. My truck is a super cab not a club cab, I have 2wd instead of 4wd and I have SRW instead of duals. So I should weigh less at the scale on the rear axle. Plus I don't have dogs anymore. ๐
Do you carry a lot of heavy options on your AF?
My wife really likes the AF campers.
I am wondering about this also. Purchasing a new 350 SRW, Crew cab long bed and don't know what it will weigh empty. TC Warehouse says no problem with a AF990 and suspension mods. Factory tires/rims?

As far as I can find, my rear axle rating is 11000. More importantly the rear discs are about two inches bigger diameter compared to a F350 of the same year.

To the OP, I did not have that info when I posted. Your good to go then, I was not busting your chops before if you thought I was.

My 2005 4wd F250 carried around 7000 lbs on the rear with only the camper and 8000 lbs with the camper and trailer. I ran 245/70r19.5 tires on Vision rims. I'm not sure if your truck runs the same a Sterling 10.5" axle or the older Sterling 10.25".
Checked the SuperDuty wiki and it says all SRW Superdutys have the upgraded Sterling 10.5 axle. 9750lbs

Just curious here.. I know the OP recently put on much heavier (in weight) Vision 81's and 19.5 tires. That does increase the scale weight for sure, but I am thinking it has not changed the amount of weight bearing down on the axle at all.
What is carried by the axle is the same whether the heavier (in weight) tires and wheels are on or off the vehicle.
Agree... or disagree?
