Rv bumper grill stand

Recently saw one at an RV show, and I believe it would be a good addition. I plan on building my own but was wondering if anyone else had built one, if so did you have a preferred design or just built it from measurements off you trailer. Thanks

We had a grill that hung on the side of our old camper, proably used it a hundred times. No issues,. Our new trailer has an outdoor kitchen with the grill on the bumper, I'll use it the same.

I'm with the "grill away from the RV" crowd. Just never seemed like a good idea. I carry a round grill mat to put on the picnic table and put the Smokey Joe kettle on that.

I love cool RV gadgets, upgrades, mods and things that make RV-ing more fun and easier. The bumper mount grill isn't one of them. Had a close look at one at a recent RV show and can see more negatives than positives. Odors & smoke can be an issue with open doors and windows too.

Our Weber Q on a picnic table or folding table works great and we have a 20' hose to a quick connect under the trailer. I like the look of a clean bumper with nothing on it. We have a BAL spare tire carrier now and the rear looks much better.

Think the hole thing out first. I have a beautiful looking holding rack for our BBQ. I made a swing away bracket that our Q BBQ sat on. Looked really cool. Strong 1 inch square tubing (thick side wall stuff) Swings out accordion style, mounted on 14 gauge flat metal. Big enough to put BBQ tools on.

Here's what I learned the hard way. First time in use I found out the errors of my ways...

My Q has a plastic or alum frame bracket, even though it looked like stronger metal. Not going to hold up bouncing around. Then we ended up in a spot that barley fit our unit. Guess what? Not enough room to swing out the BBQ. It's back in the back of pick up again.

Hmm..

My face is much further away from my grill and after cooking hamburgers my glasses have one heck of a lot of grease splatter.. Kind of fogs them up.

Often times you DON'T or CAN'T see the grease..

I agree, I prefer my outside grill on a table and a little ways away from the TT, I also carry a Coleman stove that I converted to LP a long time ago. Sure makes it easier to clean up the mess when I fry fish or something if is outside of and away from the TT

I also don't like the mess. Easy folding metal table. Quick, zip tie so the grill doesn't slide on it. Put it anywhere convenient which means away from TT walls and we're all set.

I much prefer my Q on a table under the awning. The arm swings the grill behind my outside kitchen slide and under tbe rain gutter. Grill also does not do a great job at temp controls and flare ups.

Its a good concept but poor execution. Free to a good home if anyone wants to come and get it.

Hmm..

I grilled ONCE near the side of my TT and took a lot of work to remove the grease splatter.

Unless you are grilling vegetables I would find the cleanup to be rather miserable after a while.

I personally can not wrap my head around folks who intentionally want to bolt a grill onto the side or back of a RV.

You got heat, smoke and grease to contend with..

Yes, I am very sure there will be thousands of posts claiming the opposite but I can assure you, it is not really a good idea.

I will never repeat that mistake..

They make portable fold up tables that are far easier to clean and deal with and you can place it away from doors and windows.. Not to mention you can set your grill away from a highly flammable RV..

On my fun finder I can mount the grill on the side of the trailer. Left a mess when I used it. Bought a 10 foot hose to get it away from the trailer.

I'll give you my grill mount if you want to come to Talladega, AL and get it. I'll even throw in the grill.
